Kash Patel Receives Huge News On His Confirmation

Although Kash Patel remains likely to be confirmed, Democrats have decided to delay the Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote on his nomination as FBI director until Thursday.

When the Senate Judiciary Committee convened to determine whether Patel's nomination should move forward, Democrats chose to “hold over” the decision. As a result, the vote has been postponed by a week and is now scheduled for Thursday.

Patel received two significant boosts this week.

First, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley dismissed Democratic criticism of Patel as “baseless.” Grassley expressed confidence that Patel would secure approval in both the committee’s Thursday vote and the full Senate chamber, which is controlled by Republicans.

Second, more than 680,000 police officers urged the Senate to swiftly confirm Patel as President Trump’s pick to lead the FBI. This comes as Democrats on the committee have sought to delay his confirmation before the scheduled Thursday vote.

Fox News Digital exclusively obtained the total number of law enforcement supporters, which includes state, local, and federal officials. Among them are members of organizations such as the National Sheriffs’ Association, the National Police Association, and over 370,000 members of the National Fraternal Order of Police, who formally endorsed Patel on Monday night.

“Throughout the course of his federal career, Mr. Patel has become very well acquainted with our national security apparatus and the threats the United States faces abroad,” the group stated in a letter addressed to both the Republican chairman and the leading Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The letter highlighted Patel’s background as a trial attorney for the National Security Division at the Justice Department, his work at the National Security Council, and his tenure at the Department of Defense, where he served as chief of staff to the acting secretary.

Additionally, the group referenced a “broad-ranging conversation” they had with Patel, in which he “made a compelling case about his commitment to public safety and ways in which the FBI can support state and local law enforcement agencies.”

“He has committed to building on the level of trust and collegiality the FBI enjoys with the law enforcement community, and we will all benefit from the enhanced impact the FBI can have on public safety in our communities.”

Supporters have commended Patel’s “unwavering commitment” to upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice, and safeguarding the American people.

These endorsements come just days before the Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote on Patel’s nomination. The decision is drawing close attention from Democrats on the committee, especially in light of recent moves by the Trump administration to investigate FBI personnel involved in the probes initiated on January 6.

Further concerns arose last week when Trump announced his intent to dismiss certain FBI agents linked to the January 6 investigation. He told reporters that he believed some agents “were corrupt.”

“Those people are gone, or they will be gone,” Trump stated regarding the agents, emphasizing that the removals would be carried out “quickly and very surgically.”

During his confirmation hearing last month, Patel sought to reassure lawmakers that he would shield FBI employees from political interference or attempts to weaponize the agency.

“All FBI employees will be protected against political retribution,” Patel assured Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., at the hearing.

Patel pushed back against his detractors, accusing them of “intentionally putting false information into the public ether and creating more public discourse.” He further emphasized, “The only thing that will matter if I am confirmed as director of the FBI is a de-weaponized, depoliticized system of law enforcement completely devoted to rigorous obedience of the Constitution and a singular standard of justice,” he told the Senate panel.
