Key Swing State Finishes Counting Votes: The Results Make Kamala's Loss Look Even Worse
Former President Donald Trump achieved a resounding victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in Arizona, winning by over 187,000 votes — a margin 18 times greater than President Joe Biden's razor-thin 10,000-vote win in the state four years ago.
This decisive outcome, coupled with the GOP’s success in registering more voters than Democrats, signals a shift in Arizona’s political landscape. Once considered a purple battleground, the state appears to be solidifying its position as a Republican stronghold.
Losing a state is one thing for Harris, but losing in such a sweeping manner underscores a deeper issue. Arizona, once a toss-up, now leans solidly red. Republican candidates across the ballot in the state outperformed expectations, which many attribute to the Democrats’ inability to address key voter concerns.
A central issue driving Trump’s success in Arizona was illegal immigration. His stance on curbing mass illegal crossings resonated deeply with voters, contributing significantly to his win in the critical swing state.
This election cycle, Trump captured Maricopa County, which AZCentral calls “the biggest battleground county in the country.”
For years, Democrats and their media allies have criticized Trump’s immigration policies as “racist,” claiming they would alienate Hispanic voters. Yet, the results tell a different story.
“Notable rightward shifts included the Latino-heavy neighborhoods of south and west Phoenix, and the East Valley cities that moved toward Biden four years ago,” AZCentral reported.
The outlet further noted: “Trump’s strength in Maricopa County was particularly stinging for Democrats because of how consequential it was in Biden’s defeat of Trump in 2020.”
While Harris predictably carried Phoenix, Trump dominated in its surrounding suburbs.
“Harris won Phoenix with 57% of the vote. Trump received 42%, according to city election results,” AZCentral stated.
However, the surrounding cities told a different story: “[I]n nearby Gilbert, Trump won by 16 percentage points. He carried Mesa by 12 percentage points and Scottsdale by 9 percentage points.”
Trump’s gains extended to all four Arizona counties bordering Mexico, delivering another clear rejection of the Democrats’ handling of illegal immigration.
This shift isn’t unexpected, given the escalating frustrations voiced by border residents in Arizona and beyond during the past few years.
Arizona Sheriff Mark Lamb previously testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security, attributing the surge in illegal border crossings to President Joe Biden’s policies.
“When we ask people why they came here, they said, ‘Because Joe Biden said we could,’” Lamb testified.
Mass illegal immigration drains public resources, jeopardizes safety, and fuels the growth of dangerous criminal enterprises, including drug cartels, human trafficking, and prostitution rings.
Trump’s sweeping victory in Arizona reflects voters’ frustration and their demand for stronger action to address illegal immigration. The results send a clear message: voters have entrusted Trump with the mandate to stem the tide of illegal crossings and protect the nation’s borders.
