Lip Reader Reveals What Trump And Obama Said To Each Other
President-elect Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama surprised many with their friendly interaction and shared laughter during the funeral for former President Jimmy Carter.
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman spoke to The Daily Mail about their exchange, offering his interpretation of what was said between the two leaders.
Freeman claimed that Trump told Obama it was critical for them to meet “today” in a “quiet place” to “deal” with something pressing.
Obama reportedly responded, “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, yeah, fine, fine, fine. Listen to me. It’s a chore, a chore,” according to the lip reader.
Freeman noted that Trump countered with, “Yeah, right. I can’t think of anything that’s a chore.”
According to Freeman, the conversation continued with Obama remarking: “Maybe, even the… people, even if they aren’t happy, you will come across it, it’s a chore. Now, they can block the entrance, all right.”
Trump then leaned toward Obama and whispered, “I’ve pulled out of that. It’s the conditions. Can you imagine that?” Obama laughed, and Trump added, “And after, I will…”
Later, Obama allegedly asked Trump, “Are you going back to the foy after?”
Trump replied, “Call me at the foy after, yep.” While the lip reader was unsure what “foy” referred to, it was speculated that they might have been arranging a meeting in the “foyer.”
Obama also said, “Can you just… it should be good,” to which Trump responded, “I can’t talk, we have to find a quiet place. Sometimes this is a matter of importance, and we need to do this outside so that we can deal with it, certainly, today.”
Both men nodded, saying “right” and “OK,” before resuming their respective activities.
Following the event, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump about his conversation with Obama. Trump admitted, “It did look very friendly,” without going into detail.
He noted, “Boy, they look like two people that like each other, and we probably do. We have a little different philosophies, right? But I think we probably do.”

The funeral for Jimmy Carter, who passed away at age 100, was held at the National Cathedral. All living presidents attended the service, marking a solemn day of remembrance.
Despite the occasion, moments of tension arose. At one point, when Vice President Kamala Harris sat down in front of Trump and Obama, the two men paused their conversation briefly before continuing. Harris turned to face them momentarily, appearing visibly frustrated. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, seemed equally displeased.
As Trump and Obama chatted, Melania Trump and Laura Bush, seated beside them, remained focused on the ceremony. Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton engaged in conversation, and former President George W. Bush appeared to wave at other attendees.
Another notable moment occurred when Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence, seemingly snubbed Melania Trump by not shaking her hand during the event.
The Trumps’ arrival at the Washington National Cathedral marked their first significant public appearance since Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. Despite the apparent snub, Melania responded gracefully with a polite smile.
Social media users quickly reacted to the incident. One person tweeted, “People with no class, make classless moves,” while another wrote, “I would expect nothing less from a Pence.” A third commented, “She’s the worst.”
Another user added, “They did not even acknowledge Melania neither did Bush’s wife… those frickng people are jealous morons. The mean girls ex-first lady club.”
