Melania Has 1 Word After Failed Attempts on Her Husband’s Life
Former First Lady Melania Trump opened up about the terrifying moments she learned that her husband, former President Donald Trump, had been the target of two assassination attempts.
During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Melania detailed the incidents that shook her life. The first attempt occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania, at a rally in mid-July. She described the unsettling experience of finding out what had happened after the fact, rather than in real-time.
“I ran to the TV, rewound it, and watched it,” she recalled.
She continued, “When you see him on the ground, and you don’t know what’s really happening, it’s horrifying.”
The would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had positioned himself on a rooftop around 130 yards from the rally and opened fire on Trump multiple times. A countersniper eventually killed Crooks, but not before one of his bullets grazed Trump’s ear, causing a minor injury.
Two attendees, David Dutch and James Copenhaven, were injured in the chaos, while Corey Comperatore, a former Pennsylvania fire chief, tragically lost his life.
Melania referred to the assassination attempts as “miracles.”
On September 15, while Trump was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach, a second assassination attempt took place. Melania was in New York at the time and learned about the incident—again through television.
“As soon as I saw it on TV, I called, and thankfully, he was okay. The Secret Service was amazing,” she said. “The team was fantastic. I think both events were true miracles. On July 13, it was so close; if you really think about it, he might not be with us today.”
Melania’s interview comes ahead of the release of her memoir, which she says will provide insight into her life under "public scrutiny and misrepresentation" over the years. She announced the memoir titled “Melania” will be released on October 1.
“Writing this memoir has been an incredibly personal and reflective journey for me,” Melania stated in a video shared on social media.
“As someone who prefers privacy but has often faced public misrepresentation, I feel it’s time to set the record straight,” she explained.
Melania, now 54, was a former model before marrying Donald Trump in 2005. Her memoir, published by Skyhorse Publishing, is said to offer an "intimate portrait of a woman who has led an extraordinary life." The book is expected to feature "stories and images never before shared with the public."

During the same week, Donald Trump shared a story about how his youngest son, Barron, learned about the shooting while he was playing tennis.
Speaking to Fox News’ Mark Levin, Trump recounted how Barron, an avid tennis player, was told on the court, “Barron! Barron! Your father’s been shot.”
Trump described how Barron immediately rushed off in a panic: “He’s a great kid. He loves his father, and as soon as he heard, he ran to his mom asking, ‘What’s going on?’”
In a separate interview, Trump had previously discussed Melania’s reaction to the assassination attempts: “When I asked her about her feelings, she said she can’t even talk about it. But that’s okay because it means she cares,” he noted.
At another point in the conversation, Trump mentioned that after he was brought to safety following the shooting, his son, Donald Trump Jr., who is skilled with firearms, remarked, “I can’t believe it. From that distance, it should’ve been a sure hit.”
Trump compared the distance from which Crooks fired to “sinking a one-foot putt,” hinting that the assassin’s failure to hit him directly was highly improbable.
Trump had been presenting a chart on border crossing statistics when the shooting occurred. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “If I had turned just a little more or less, it could have been the end.”
