Melania Trump Describes How Much Hatred Her Family Experiences
In a rare interview, former First Lady Melania Trump spoke with Fox News about the toll left-wing attacks have had on her husband, former President Donald Trump, and their family.
As she begins a media tour to promote her much-anticipated memoir, Melania revealed that a charitable donation she made to fund scholarships for foster children was rejected simply because of her last name.
“It was all agreed that they will accept my donations for the foster students, and because of the board directors, they called back. They found out that it was me. They said we cannot go on,” she explained.
The donation, intended for an unnamed university, was made after the Trump family left the White House in 2021, she said.
“And it’s very, very sad because who suffered? They were children from the foster community. They didn’t have a scholarship that somebody would provide for them. They didn’t want to do business with me because of political affiliation, my political beliefs,” Melania added.
In another part of the interview, Melania defended her husband against typical media and left-wing criticisms of his character.
“What do you want to say to women who may have an image of President Trump in their minds, thinking they know who he is? What do you want them to know about your husband that they might not?” asked Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.
“They need to know that he is passionate about this country, passionate about women and men as well, everybody. He wants to make their lives better, safe, and prosperous. He’s warm, he loves people,” the former first lady responded.
“And I understand that maybe sometimes they see him tough, and some tweets maybe they didn’t like. I understand that, but he needs to fight back, too. When he’s attacked, he needs to fight back. He only wants good for this country. The business of politics can be very mean and cutthroat,” she continued.
Bartiromo also questioned the former first lady about the Trump family’s safety after two near-assassination attempts.
Melania expressed confidence in her security team but mentioned concerns about “something going on” with the Secret Service leadership that needs attention. She also praised her husband for returning to Butler, Pennsylvania, just over two months after being shot during a rally on July 13.
“I think it’s great. I support him. And he is a fighter. He will never stop. He’s on the go every day. He’s helping this country. And he wants to make America great again, prosperous, safe, and I think the people of this country support him tremendously,” she said.

Melania also revealed that her husband, Donald Trump, has known her views on abortion rights “since the day we met.”
In her upcoming memoir, she expresses a strong belief that women should have autonomy over their bodies, a stance that contrasts with her husband, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, on the issue of abortion.
Melania’s autobiography, titled Melania, is set for release on October 8, just four weeks before Election Day.
She told Bartiromo that she wrote in the book that it is “imperative to guarantee” that women have the freedom to decide whether to have children or not. She reiterated a similar sentiment on social media.
Since these views were “written months before,” she clarified during the Fox News interview, they are not new and are not meant to stir controversy as voters head to the polls.
