In a Monday interview, Melania Trump opened up about her $40 million documentary, her plans for the first-family residence, and whether her son Barron will visit the White House.
Speaking with Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends, the incoming first lady candidly discussed her ambitions for her second term, signaling a departure from her quieter role during the first four years.
Unlike her previous tenure, Melania intends to adopt a more active role in the White House, expanding her Be Best campaign while embarking on her documentary project.
Reflecting on her readiness this time, she said:
"I know where I will be going. I know the rooms where we will be living. I know the process."
During Donald Trump’s first term, Melania’s focus was on raising their son Barron, who was just 11 when they moved to Washington. Barron, now 18 and a freshman at New York University, has stepped out of the spotlight. While discussing his involvement, she added:
"He will come and visit, yes... We teach them, we guide them. And then we give them the wings to fly. I always respect Barron’s yes and no and what he likes to do, where he would like to be."
Melania also shared insights into her upcoming documentary, which follows the success of her memoir, Melania.
"The book was such a success, and I’m very proud. I get so many messages and letters about how they enjoy the book. My fans and people would love to hear more from me. So I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film about my life," she said.
The documentary, slated for release this fall, will premiere in cinemas and later stream on Amazon, which paid $40 million for the rights. The film will spotlight her daily life as first lady, from managing the transition to re-establishing the White House residence.
"It’s a day-to-day life—what I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have," she explained. "People don’t really know, and they will see it... from transition team to moving to the White House, packing, establishing my team."
Melania disclosed that she will split her time between New York and Washington while maintaining her responsibilities.
"I will be in the White House. When I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach," she said.
Her focus remains on being a mother, wife, and first lady. She has already chosen furnishings for the family’s private residence in the White House, which she says will closely resemble their setup from four years ago:
"A little bit of changes. Not much."
Reflecting on her first move to the White House in 2017, she acknowledged the challenges but said this time feels more organized.
"We didn’t have much of the information—the information was upheld for us from the previous administration. But this time, I have everything. I have the plans. I could move in. I already packed. I already selected the, you know, the furniture that needs to go in. So, it’s a very different transition this time."
Melania also highlighted her plans to revive her Be Best initiative and her approach to hiring staff.
"I have a few positions I need to hire. I will not rush into that. I want to make sure every position... they are talented, they have merit. They know what they are doing. And as well as they are a team player. They don’t have their own agenda—they are serving me," she stated.
With a clearer vision and a renewed sense of purpose, Melania Trump appears poised to embrace her second term as first lady with confidence and determination.
