Melania’s Pick for Donald Trump’s VP Revealed

Former First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly providing a notable endorsement for one candidate in former President Donald Trump’s final selection for vice president.

According to Puck News, Melania Trump has been expressing positive sentiments about Doug Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, who previously competed against Trump in the primaries and has actively campaigned for him in several key swing states.

Sources indicate that Melania’s favorable view of Burgum, 67, stems from her close relationship with his wife, Kathryn, who previously worked with Melania on a White House initiative. This support faces challenges from Donald Trump Jr., who is strongly pushing for Ohio Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH).

“If it’s Melania over Don Jr., she wins,” a source shared with the outlet, while also noting that Melania’s credibility suffered a setback after she encouraged Trump to back Mehmet Oz instead of David McCormick during Pennsylvania’s 2022 U.S. Senate race. “That was a major f***-up on her part. It cost her,” remarked a former Trump aide.

Supporters of Governor Burgum highlight that his friendly and unpretentious demeanor complements the often volatile nature of the president, adding value to the ticket without eclipsing him.

Burgum is also significantly wealthy; he used $20 million of his own funds to support his presidential campaign and has connections with affluent conservatives in the business sector who have been largely reluctant to back President Trump.

Sources for Puck News also mention that Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is among the remaining vice presidential contenders, but Trump does not hold a favorable opinion of any of them. He reportedly feels “irked” by the idea that his choice could help secure a victory in November.

“He doesn’t much give a f*** about it. He doesn’t love any of these people; he doesn’t know these people,” stated a person close to the former president.

“With Burgum, he likes his look, but they haven’t actually spent a lot of time together; one-on-one, just maybe five, eight times. He doesn’t spend time with J.D. He doesn’t give a f*** about Mike Pence,” they added, referencing the former vice president’s ongoing criticisms of Trump’s campaign.

This development occurs amid a striking 72 percent of voters expressing that President Biden should not seek a second term, an increase of nine points since February.

A recent CBS News/YouGov poll reveals potential voter apprehensions regarding Biden’s capability to finish his term. This poll will be one of the first assessments post-debate that Democratic strategists and donors will review to gauge the effects of Biden’s debate performance on his candidacy.

Among Democrats, 46 percent believe Biden should not run again, up 10 points from February. When respondents were asked why Biden should refrain from running, their reasons included:

–His age: 86 percent

–Potential decisions he might make in office: 71 percent

–His record as president: 66 percent

–Ability to campaign effectively: 59 percent

–Seventy-two percent of voters believe Biden lacks the “mental” and “cognitive health” necessary to serve, an increase from 65 percent since June 9.

“After the debate, some Democratic officials reportedly said Joe Biden should step aside as the nominee and give another Democrat a chance to run for president in 2024. That idea finds resonance with nearly half the nation’s rank-and-file Democrats,” CBS reported.

“That’s related to perceptions of Mr. Biden’s health: Democrats who don’t think Mr. Biden has the mental and cognitive health to serve are more likely to say he shouldn’t be the nominee. And that former number has increased among Democrats. It’s also gone up among independents,” the outlet added.
