Michelle Obama Seen Handing Out Free Soda Samples At Costco

Michelle Obama surprised shoppers at a Costco in Livermore, California, as she promoted her new healthy beverage, Plezi Fizz.

A TikTok video shared on Tuesday showed the former first lady in front of a large display of the drinks, which were introduced in March.

Customers eagerly gathered around Michelle and her security, taking photos as reported by DailyMail.com. Several images were later posted on social media.

In the short, 25-second clip, Michelle Obama explained that the beverage was both healthy and free of calories while also being tasty. A Costco employee named Oscaldo told DailyMail.com that the event occurred on Wednesday, where Obama was promoting her new venture.

Michelle Obama is the co-founder and a strategic partner of Plezi Nutrition. According to the brand’s official site, she is helping steer the company toward becoming a leader in healthy food and drink options, the outlet mentioned.

On the company’s site, Obama shared: “We’re starting with a beverage because we know how much concern parents and pediatricians have about sugary drinks.”

Plezi Fizz is available in three flavors: Lemon Lime Squeeze, Cherry Limeade, and Strawberry Lemonade. The beverages reportedly contain 70% less sugar than other major fruit juices.

Earlier this year, the former first lady addressed black Americans, stressing that voting in the upcoming November elections was “critical” for safeguarding their “freedom.”

“Juneteenth is all about celebrating our collective freedom and fighting to protect it,” Obama said in a video posted to X.

She emphasized that “our power, our rights, and even our planet are on the ballot this year,” and urged people to think now about how they plan to make their voices heard.

This call comes as recent polls suggest that former President Donald Trump might be poised to receive a significant portion of the black American vote.

In 2018, Michelle Obama founded the voter registration and engagement group, When We All Vote, and encouraged her 22 million X followers to visit the organization's website.

“Register to vote, and then reach out to three friends to do the same,” she urged. “Don’t sit out this year, because this is a pivotal time for all of us.”

During a January interview on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Obama issued another urgent call to action, saying she was “terrified about what could happen” in the election.

“Leaders matter,” she added. “Who we choose, who represents us, who speaks for us—it affects our lives in ways I think people sometimes take for granted.”

In March, Obama’s office confirmed that she has no intention of running for president, dispelling the rumors circulating in light of President Biden’s low polling numbers.

“As former first lady Michelle Obama has made clear numerous times over the years, she will not be running for president,” Crystal Carson, her communications director, told NBC News at the time.

Obama continues to support President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in their reelection efforts, Carson added.

Despite continued speculation that Michelle Obama would eventually enter the race, those predictions faded after President Biden formally launched his reelection campaign and the Democratic Party solidified its backing of Harris at the August convention.
