MTG Issues Strong Warning to DC Bureaucracy Ahead of New Leadership Role
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, has outlined an ambitious agenda for her upcoming role leading a House subcommittee aimed at curbing waste and inefficiency in federal spending.
Speaking on Fox News Sunday, she revealed her nomination by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer to head the new subcommittee. Greene shared plans to collaborate with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, leaders of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“We’ll be looking at everything from government-funded media programs like NPR that spread nothing but Democrat propaganda, to grant programs funding things like sex apps in Malaysia and toilets in Africa,” she told host Maria Bartiromo. “I want to ask the Pentagon why billions of dollars go unaccounted for each year and why they consistently fail their audits—but not just that.”
Conservative critics have long targeted NPR as a mouthpiece for Democratic policies, with Musk labeling it “State Media” on his X platform.
Greene also set her sights on addressing funding for so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions.
“I’d like to … have them come before our committee and explain why they deserve federal dollars if they’re going to harbor illegal criminal aliens in their states and cities,” she stated.
Emphasizing fiscal accountability, she declared, “We don’t care about people’s feelings—we’re going to be looking for the facts and determining whether this is worth spending the hard-earned tax dollars of the American people on.”
Another focus of Greene’s initiative will be examining unused federal properties.
“We’re also looking at many—thousands—of buildings that the federal government owns and pays for with over $15 billion a year, yet those government buildings sit empty while employees stay home,” she noted.
The subcommittee is expected to analyze unnecessary expenditures, streamline government functions, and propose strategies to cut through bureaucratic inefficiencies.
A source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital that Comer recently met with Ramaswamy and the DOGE team to discuss the initiative.
Ramaswamy affirmed his support, stating through a spokesperson, “A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public—we are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a subcommittee to focus on this work. We look forward to working together.”
The source added that Ramaswamy is already collaborating with the Oversight Committee on its mission.
Comer emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility, linking the subcommittee’s goals to former President Donald Trump’s platform.
“Taxpayers deserve to see their money used effectively and efficiently, and wasteful government spending must end,” Comer told the outlet. He highlighted the Trump administration’s focus on cutting red tape and eliminating inefficiencies that burden Americans with higher costs.
“I look forward to working with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy to deliver on these goals to Make America Great Again,” Comer stated.
Taylor Greene echoed these sentiments in a post on the X platform featuring Comer and conservative commentator Benny Johnson.
“I come from a business background and have successfully run a construction company my entire adult life. In the private sector, if you’re not doing a good job, you get fired,” she wrote. “But for some reason, in government, bad employees—whether they’re failing to do the job they were hired to do or working in roles that are no longer needed—never get fired. This is incredibly unfair to the hard-working taxpayers of our country, and it’s about to change. I can’t wait to get to work!!”
