Musk to Relocate X Headquarters from San Francisco to Texas

Elon Musk, the leader of X, has decided to move the company headquarters out of the liberal city of San Francisco, California.

The timing of this move is significant.

The CEO of Tesla announced in an email to employees that the San Francisco headquarters of X, formerly known as Twitter, will be closed on Friday, September 13, as reported by Fox News.

“Musk announced last month that he would move the global headquarters of X and SpaceX out of California after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill prohibiting schools from notifying parents of their children’s gender identity,” according to the report.

“At the time, Musk stated that X’s headquarters would be relocated to Austin, Texas, and he also revealed that SpaceX would be moving its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas. He cited the gender identity law as ‘the final straw,’ attributing the decision to ‘this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies,’” the report continued.

As Musk has become more politically active, he has openly criticized California’s policies and even endorsed former President Donald Trump in the past election.

Last month, he used his platform to call for significant changes to the voting system before the 2024 election.

“We should eliminate electronic voting machines. The risk of being hacked by humans or AI, while small, is still too high,” Musk stated in a tweet that received considerable support.

Musk was responding to a post from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who discussed a recent issue with electronic voting machines in Puerto Rico.

Meanwhile, a co-founder of a major superPAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris sparked interest on Monday after suggesting that her polling numbers might be overstated.

According to Reuters, Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward—a superPAC that has raised hundreds of millions to back Harris this election cycle—spoke at an event in Chicago related to the Democratic National Convention.

“Our numbers are much less rosy than what you’re seeing in the public,” McLean said, a rare public statement from him.

McLean explained that Harris gained substantial support from young voters of color after Biden’s withdrawal, which has revived Democratic hopes in Sunbelt states such as Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina—states that had been largely written off during the final days of Biden’s campaign.

“She has multiple paths,” with seven states in play, he noted, according to Reuters. McLean added that voters are seeking more details on her policy positions, based on internal polling. He emphasized that voters are not interested in “white papers” or hollow promises but are looking for tangible examples of how Harris plans to differentiate herself from Biden and improve their economic conditions.

“We have [the race] tight as a tick,” he remarked.

McLean also criticized Harris for her stance on “equity,” clarifying that it is not the same as “equality.”

Musk, who is also CEO of Starlink and SpaceX, was responding to an X post featuring various claims about Harris’ political views and video clips where she discusses “equity” instead of “equality.”

“Kamala Harris is a communist and her word choices give it away. ‘Equitable distribution’ ‘equity,’” the post said, adding: “It’s a repackaged version of Karl Marx’s popularized slogan ‘From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,’ meaning a redistribution of wealth.”

Musk responded: “Kamala is quite literally a communist. She wants not merely equal opportunity, but equal outcomes.”

Former President Donald Trump echoed similar sentiments during a segment on “Fox & Friends” this week, commenting on Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

“There’s never been a ticket like this. This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner,” Trump stated.
