Nancy Pelosi Attacks Trump After Failed Attack Against Him
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched another attack against former President Donald Trump, using harsh language in response to recent events involving him.
While speaking at the Cap Times Idea Fest in Wisconsin, Pelosi stressed that the state would play a key role in ensuring “democracy survives” in the upcoming election. She emphasized the importance of “vanquishing Trump” to restore American democracy and reclaim a Republican Party that she believes has been "hijacked."
Pelosi went on to criticize Trump, stating, “He projects. He says ‘crazy Nancy’ — he is crazy. He says ‘crooked Hillary’ — he’s crooked. Every adjective he uses is really about himself. So when he says people are eating cats and dogs, I’m just wondering about him.”
Pelosi also stressed the importance of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries becoming Speaker, saying, “For the good of our country, it is absolutely essential that Hakeem Jeffries has the gavel when Congress votes to accept the results of the Electoral College.”
Pelosi’s remarks came a day after an incident that appeared to be an assassination attempt on Trump at his Florida golf club. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and other law enforcement officials detailed the situation, explaining that a Secret Service agent had prevented the attempt by spotting a rifle aimed at a hole where Trump was about to play.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed on the incident and expressed relief upon hearing that Trump was safe. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also commented on the incident, promising a thorough investigation into how the assassin got so close to Trump.
Trump's advisors, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, sent a memo praising the Secret Service for protecting the former president and urged staff to remain vigilant. Trump himself reassured supporters with a statement, declaring, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”
