'Never Coming Back': Ellen DeGeneres Flees America After Trump's Victory Over Kamala Harris

At long last, a defiant celebrity has followed through on the oft-repeated promise to leave the country.
Yet even this seemingly straightforward act has highlighted what appears to be a glaring inconsistency.
According to entertainment outlet The Wrap, former television host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, retired actress Portia de Rossi, have reportedly left the United States for good, vowing “never to return” after President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
The Wrap cited an unnamed insider “close to the former TV host,” who confirmed the couple’s move.
DeGeneres, it appears, has already relocated to rural southern England, and her Montecito mansion near Los Angeles is expected to hit the market soon.
But this so-called act of resistance against Trump’s win comes with a significant twist.
As TMZ revealed, the couple had purchased their new home in England well before the election.
While DeGeneres and de Rossi may claim their move was spurred by Trump’s win — a narrative sure to gain approval from Hollywood’s anti-Trump crowd — the timing of their decision suggests otherwise. Their plans to relocate were evidently in place long before election night.
This raises an intriguing question: Why the preemptive move? Of all the celebrities who vowed to leave the U.S. if Trump won, why did DeGeneres and de Rossi seem to have their escape route planned so far in advance?
Some might argue the couple simply wanted a fresh start, especially given DeGeneres’s controversial fall from grace. Her once-thriving TV career ended in 2022 after plummeting ratings and allegations of fostering a toxic work environment.
However, DeGeneres’s ties to other controversies have also drawn attention. Notably, she has been linked to music mogul and accused sex trafficker Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.

For instance, a widely circulated video clip and a 2016 tweet from “The Ellen Show” highlight their association.

Unsurprisingly, this connection has fueled speculation across social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).
“Was Ellen Degeneres A P Diddy Diddler?” one user wrote.

Prominent Trump supporter Terrence K. Williams, boasting over 2.1 million followers on X, took it a step further, alleging in a post, “I have reason to believe Ellen is running from the Law! She’s best friends with Diddy and his crew.”

She ran off to England because Trump Won

While TMZ suggested Trump’s victory was the primary catalyst for DeGeneres’s self-imposed exile, many are unconvinced. Skepticism persists about whether there is more to the story than meets the eye.
It seems, then, that even when a celebrity honors their promise to leave the country, the act rarely comes without layers of complexity and questions about motive. Can we ever expect such gestures to be free of ulterior motives and simply grounded in honesty?
