New Docs Show 'Great COVID Cover-Up' Was Even Worse Than Previously Thought

U.S. Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky, representing the Republican Party, has aggressively raised concerns about the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on alleged collaborations between U.S. government agencies and laboratories in Wuhan, China.

Paul asserts these entities conspired to develop a version of the coronavirus that was "highly transmissible."

In a series of statements on his X account, Senator Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), of deceiving the public regarding the pandemic's origins. "Newly obtained documents confirm yet again Fauci lied about COVID," he declared, alleging a partnership between Fauci's NIAID lab and the Wuhan lab to create a highly transmissible coronavirus as part of a 2018 proposal.

Paul emphasized that this proposal was known to 15 government agencies, which failed to alert the public.

"Americans deserve answers," Paul stated, expressing frustration over the lack of transparency and accountability.

His criticisms were not limited to social media; Paul also articulated his findings in a Fox News opinion piece titled "The Great COVID Cover-up: Shocking truth about Wuhan and 15 federal agencies."

In it, Paul claimed that his investigations revealed that in 2018, officials from 15 federal agencies were aware of attempts by the Wuhan Institute of Virology to engineer a coronavirus akin to COVID-19, part of what he referred to as the DEFUSE project. Despite this knowledge, none of these agencies warned the public.

Moreover, Paul accused these agencies of obstructing access to information related to this "alarming and dangerous research." He shared his prolonged efforts to obtain records from federal entities concerning COVID-19's origins and the DEFUSE project.

The administration eventually released documents indicating that at least 15 agencies were briefed on the DEFUSE project in January 2018, but failed to alert the American populace about the potential dangers.

Fauci, according to Paul, was deeply involved from the outset. NIAID, under Fauci's leadership, was briefed about Wuhan's intentions and was even listed as a collaborator in the initial DEFUSE proposal alongside the Wuhan lab.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Paul mentioned the death toll from COVID-19 and pointed out that numerous government officials, researchers, and scientists were aware of the Wuhan lab's intentions to engineer a coronavirus optimized for human transmission. He criticized the widespread silence and concealment of information that could have been pivotal in early responses to the pandemic.

Paul's commentary implies that the concealment of the DEFUSE project's objectives and the involvement of various U.S. agencies and scientists in this research significantly hindered global preparedness and response efforts.

He expressed outrage over the lack of accountability and the silence that potentially contributed to the pandemic's severity, concluding with a strong condemnation of those involved in the cover-up.
