While it may seem that the Empire State tolerates lawlessness, the same cannot be said for the Sunshine State.

Bodycam footage captured the moment when a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy in Florida arrested Richard Brothers, a New York resident visiting the Florida Keys, on a felony charge of damaging property to express his political stance.

For liberals considering a trip to Florida, this incident serves as a cautionary tale.

As reported by the Gateway Pundit, Brothers, hailing from Syracuse, New York, visited a Winn-Dixie supermarket on March 24, where he encountered a truck adorned with a “Let’s Go Brandon” sticker—a phrase originating from a misinterpretation of a chant at a NASCAR race in October 2022.

(“Let’s Go Brandon” is a phrase that took root in October 2022 among critics of President Joe Biden when an NBC reporter heard a crowd at a NASCAR race at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway Talladega chanting “f*ck Joe Biden” and apparently confused it with the crowd chanting support for driver Brandon Brown Brown. She said the crowd was chanting “Let’s go Brandon.”)

Brothers, reportedly angered by the sticker, used his key fob to damage the green Toyota Tundra, causing over $6,000 in damages.

Security cameras captured the act, facilitating identification of the alleged perpetrator, who was subsequently approached by the deputy at his vacation home in Summerland Key on March 26.

Initially evasive, Brothers provided misleading information before admitting to damaging the vehicle upon further questioning by the deputy.

Acknowledging the felony charge due to the extensive damage, the deputy arrested Brothers without the need for a warrant.

Following the arrest, another deputy inquired about Brothers' motive, to which the arresting deputy explained Brothers' discontent with the bumper sticker.

While political disagreements can be contentious, resorting to vandalism is unlawful and unacceptable.

Perhaps influenced by a sense of impunity, Brothers' actions underscore the importance of accountability in upholding the law, regardless of political affiliation.
