One Man Killed 'Execution-Style' After Strange Alert from Trail Cam Hits Cabin Full of Hunters
Shortly after receiving an alert from a trail camera about an armed individual, a group of three hunters in Minnesota faced a shocking and fatal attack when an armed intruder stormed their cabin.
Tragically, the alleged gunman, Kirk Edward Hazlett III, was the son of the victim, Kirk Edward Hazlett II, KARE reported.
Hazlett II’s brother and another hunter present at the cabin witnessed the horrifying incident.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by KARE, the violent events took place on November 15 at a family hunting cabin in Hinckley, Minnesota.
The complaint revealed that Hazlett II, his brother, and a third man were in the cabin during a hunting trip when they were alerted to the presence of an armed person by a trail camera. Shortly after, the armed individual—later identified as Hazlett III—forcefully entered the cabin and opened fire, according to witnesses.
One witness reported that Hazlett II was struck multiple times in the upper body before falling to the ground. The witness then saw Hazlett III deliver a final “execution-style” shot to his father’s head.
The two surviving witnesses managed to persuade Hazlett III to let them leave by offering their phones. They escaped to a neighboring property, where residents assisted them in contacting 911.
Authorities arrested Hazlett III at his residence in Cambridge shortly after the attack. The Pine County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his apprehension in a November 16 Facebook post, though they did not initially name the victim.
Court documents released by local media indicated that the father-son relationship had been strained prior to the shooting. Hazlett III had been removed from the property for trespassing a month earlier, following a family dispute that required law enforcement intervention.
Witnesses described Hazlett III’s actions as purposeful, stating that he “entered with a mission.”
Hazlett III now faces five felony charges, including second-degree murder, kidnapping, and burglary. He is currently being held at the Pine County Jail and made his first court appearance on Monday.
