Pirro: Biden Ends Presidency With Hunter Pardon After ‘Lying’ About Son’s Activities For Years
The hosts of Fox News's The Five spent a segment on Tuesday delving into the reasons and consequences surrounding President Joe Biden’s controversial decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden—an act criticized across the political spectrum.
Co-host and former judge Jeanine Pirro highlighted that the president’s knowledge of his son’s dubious business activities has long been evident. Congressional investigators have suggested these dealings, which involved Joe Biden and other family members, were questionable and potentially illegal.
The pardon extended beyond Hunter’s charges related to gun possession and tax evasion, spanning an 11-year period starting in 2014. During this time, Joe Biden served as vice president and was tasked by then-President Barack Obama with overseeing U.S.-Ukraine relations amid a crisis. Meanwhile, Hunter Biden secured a lucrative position with a Ukrainian energy company, earning millions despite lacking relevant expertise.
“And some of those years encompass the years that David Weiss, the so-called special counsel — I think he is — allowed the statute of limitations to expire on Hunter’s highest-earning years, which undoubtedly involved his father and his ‘business’ dealings,” Pirro stated.
“Look, they have done everything possible to cover up their actions. They have denied, they have lied. Joe Biden began his presidency by claiming, ‘I know nothing about my son’s businesses,’ and now he’s ending it with another lie—pardoning his son,” Pirro asserted.
The pardon, which covers the period from January 1, 2014, to December 1, 2024, includes Hunter’s convictions from June for lying on a federal form about drug use when purchasing a firearm and his September convictions on nine counts related to unpaid taxes amounting to at least $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019.
“The bottom line here is that they’re afraid of something. They fear a weaponized Trump Justice Department targeting Hunter for crimes David Weiss didn’t pursue. And only Donald Trump can speak to that issue,” Pirro added.
“They knew jail time was inevitable for Hunter Biden. He’s been convicted of two felonies—not one, two. And if Joe Biden argues that ‘no reasonable prosecutor’ would bring these charges because Hunter is his son, then why didn’t he fire Merrick Garland?” Pirro questioned.
“If the Justice Department is so selective in prosecutions, then fire the person you appointed,” she continued. “Let’s address the claim that ‘no one is above the law.’ Hunter Biden is a textbook example of someone who is above the law. He wasn’t even sentenced. Most pardons are granted to individuals who’ve served time and repaid their debt to society. This is not one of those cases.”
Pirro emphasized, “We’ll never know what his sentence might have been. For the president to criticize the media and claim selective prosecution is absurd. A jury found Hunter guilty. Are you saying you no longer trust the jury system, Mr. President? And is your son foolish? He pled guilty to six counts of tax evasion. If this was truly selective prosecution, why didn’t he take it to trial? This is all about Joe Biden’s lies. He is starting and ending his presidency in the same manner.”
