RFK Jr: DNC Trying To Keep Me On Ballots, They Don’t Trust Their Nominee

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former independent presidential candidate, garnered attention this week after aligning himself with former President Donald Trump.

During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” RFK Jr. stated that the Democratic National Committee’s efforts to keep him on the ballot are due to their concerns about their top candidates, describing the move as “fundamentally undemocratic.”

Here’s a portion of the interview:

MacCALLUM: “Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former independent presidential candidate now part of the transition team. Mr. Kennedy, it's good to have you here. I want to hear your thoughts on something. You’ve seen the discussion surrounding Netanyahu, and you heard Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly emphasize how President Biden has made it clear that Hamas is the enemy here. What’s your reaction to that? Do you think President Biden has been strong enough on this issue?”

Kennedy Jr.: “Well, I’m aware that the Israeli government and the IDF have claimed they’ve exercised restraint, especially recently in Rafah. But I can’t speak to the ongoing negotiations in Egypt or what role Qatar might be playing. I’m also not sure about the kind of pressure we may be applying on Qatar, which has historically funded Hamas terrorism.”

MacCALLUM: “Yes, over the weekend we witnessed the tragic death of an American citizen. Some feel that President Biden’s response could have been stronger, as it was mostly a written statement. But let’s shift to the upcoming election, just nine weeks away. Since endorsing former President Trump, you've withdrawn from the ballot in states like Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Arizona, but you remain on the ballot in Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. Polls suggest your presence on those ballots could significantly impact the election’s outcome. What’s your take on that?”

Kennedy Jr.: “We’re actively working to remove ourselves from the ballots in every state. I’m getting some echo feedback as I speak...”

MacCALLUM: “Sorry about that, we’ll fix the echo.”

Kennedy Jr.: “As I was saying, we’re trying to come off the ballots in states where I could spoil the vote and harm President Trump. Interestingly, the DNC, which has been trying to block me from the ballot, is now suing to keep me on it—"

MacCALLUM: “That’s definitely ironic.”

Kennedy Jr.: “—in several states where we're trying to get removed.”

MacCALLUM: “Do you believe the DNC’s actions are manipulative, based on their desired election outcome?”

Kennedy Jr.: “I can’t hear you because of the echo.”

MacCALLUM: “I’m sorry, let me repeat that. Do you think the DNC is being manipulative in trying to keep you on the ballot?”

Kennedy Jr.: “I believe the DNC is engaging in actions that are essentially and fundamentally undemocratic. I grew up in a Democratic Party, the party of Robert Kennedy and John Kennedy, where the goal was to ensure every American could vote for the candidate of their choice. Over a million Americans have signed petitions to put me on the ballot. We’ve followed every signature requirement, but the Democratic Party doesn’t seem to trust its own nominees enough to promote their platforms. Instead, they’re using legal tactics to remove opposition candidates like me, Jill Stein, and others.”

MacCALLUM: “I’m sorry, Mr. Kennedy, we’re out of time, and I apologize for the technical issues. I hope you’ll return so we can dive deeper into this. Thank you for your patience today.”
