Rick Harrison of 'Pawn Stars' Got a Surprise Call from Trump - The First Words Out of 47's Mouth Show His True Colors

Rick Harrison, the well-known face of “Pawn Stars,” has shared a story that paints President Donald Trump as a loyal friend who’s quick to own up to mistakes when it comes to those he cares about.

Harrison revealed that Trump once went out of his way to apologize to him—a rare move for the famously unapologetic former real estate mogul—after a Secret Service mix-up left Harrison stranded at a 2018 campaign rally in Nevada.

To set the scene, Harrison explained how it all went down during an interview on the Monday episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast. “So this is in 2018, he’s having a rally here in town for … someone running for Congress and Senate. And they wanted me to announce him at the rally,” he said.

He went on: “So I show up with my son, Jake, and my daughter, Serena. White House staff [goes], ‘Hey Rick, how’s it going? Come on, come this way.’ And we go to backstage, and the Secret Service goes, ‘He’s not on the list.’”

Despite efforts to vouch for him, Harrison recalled the frustration: “And they’re going like, ‘But it’s Rick Harrison.’ And his friend’s like, ‘Not on the list. Doesn’t matter.’ And I’m literally trying to call a U.S. senator, some other people, some congressman. I can’t get a hold of anybody.”

The situation spiraled from there. “Secret Service throws me into the public, and I am getting mobbed. And we had to leave. We could not stay there … I’m so pissed off,” he said.

On his way home, Harrison got an unexpected call from then-Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada, who told him, “‘Rick, before you say a word, the president of the United States would like to talk to you.’” Harrison remembered Trump’s immediate response: “And the first words out of Trump’s mouth were, ‘Rick, I am really sorry. This is all my fault because my White House staff, they work for me. They screwed up. That makes it my fault. I’m sorry.’”

Trump didn’t stop there, adding, “‘They should have informed the Secret Service. So, I’m sorry, will you please come back down to the convention center? We’ll try and make this happen.’”

Harrison chuckled at the memory, noting, “You’re not going to tell the president of the United States ‘no.’”

As he turned around to head back, Secret Service officials reached out, promising a VIP escort complete with multiple cars to ensure his return went smoothly. The “Pawn Stars” star said the ordeal left a lasting mark on his son, who thought his dad’s clout was pretty cool.

Harrison, who shot to stardom with “Pawn Stars” in 2009—a show that’s now run for 23 seasons—has been a steadfast Trump supporter since 2016, back when backing MAGA could spark serious backlash.

He’s often spoken highly of Trump’s approach, particularly on issues like illegal immigration. That stance became personal last year when Harrison’s son, Adam, passed away at 39 from a fentanyl overdose. Harrison pointed the finger at then-President Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to tackle the fentanyl crisis that claimed his son’s life.

“The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously,” Harrison stated in 2024. “It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”

Now, two months into Trump’s second term, Harrison and others hope the president stays committed to his pledge to bolster America by curbing illegal immigration and its ripple effects.
