Ruhle Praises Trump’s Availability After Calling Him; Jokes ‘He Told Me to Go F- Myself’
MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle recently commended President-elect Donald Trump for his accessibility to reporters during the election, contrasting it with Vice President Kamala Harris, who she said often avoided direct engagement.
Ruhle shared a personal anecdote during an interview on Lukas Thimm’s late-night talk show So Many Issues.
Reflecting on her experience, Ruhle revealed she had been able to contact Trump directly after his October event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“I rolled the dice and called him on the phone—and he answered,” Ruhle recounted. “I wasn’t calling to chit-chat. I said, ‘Mr. President, this is Stephanie Ruhle. You made a lot of comments last night,’ blah-blah-blah. It was not an on-the-record conversation, so I won’t get into what he said.”
She continued, “But I called for one reason: to request an interview. I told him, ‘We’ve got five days before the election.’ Obviously, he said no. So there’s nothing for me to report from that call.”
Ruhle contrasted the ease of reaching Trump with the challenges of contacting Harris or President Joe Biden.
“My point is, I was able to get to him by dialing his phone. Now that might sound completely crazy, and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe people know his phone number,’ but the reverse of that is trying to connect with VP Harris or President Biden,” Ruhle explained.
“There are 50 people between me and them. I could write a note, and maybe it would go through somebody who knows somebody, then maybe a pigeon or Pony Express would get it near their mailbox,” she said with humor.
Ruhle also joked about her conversation with Trump: “I called DJT to say, ‘Yo, can I get an interview?’ And he told me to go f*ck myself—but I still got through to him.”
Although Trump may not have used those exact words, Ruhle’s candid storytelling struck a chord with her audience, drawing laughter.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump made waves earlier this week with a major economic announcement.
Speaking from Mar-a-Lago, Trump joined SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son to announce a $100 billion investment in the United States over the next four years.
Son expressed his confidence in the U.S. economy following Trump’s election victory. “My confidence level has tremendously increased with [Trump’s] victory,” Son said. “Because of that, I am committing $100 billion and 100,000 jobs into the United States. This is double what I pledged last time... because President Trump is a double-down president.”
Trump called the investment a testament to “monumental confidence in America’s future” and playfully challenged Son to raise the figure. “Why not $200 billion?” Trump quipped. Son laughed, responding, “I’ll try.”
Praising Son as “one of the most accomplished business leaders of our time,” Trump framed the pledge as aligning with his commitment to strengthening the U.S. economy and addressing inflation in his second term, which begins on Jan. 20.
The $100 billion investment, announced at a flag-draped event at Mar-a-Lago, fits into Trump’s broader vision for economic growth. Reuters noted the announcement aligns with his campaign promise to reduce inflation’s impact on Americans while boosting the nation’s economic outlook.
