Secret Service Shoots Armed Individual Near White House

On Sunday, Secret Service officers in Washington, DC, shot a man who was armed near the White House.
Authorities were alerted by local police, leading agents to engage with what was described as a “suicidal” individual from Indiana.
As officers approached, the man reportedly pulled out a firearm, prompting them to open fire.
He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the Secret Service issued an official statement.

“Around midnight, members of the Secret Service encountered the individual’s parked vehicle…” the statement detailed.
“As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel.”
At this time, the man’s condition remains “unknown.”
The Metropolitan Police Department is also participating in the investigation.
