Sergeant at Arms Removes Belligerent House Democrat from Trump's Address to Congress

Texas Democratic Representative Al Green, widely recognized for his repeated and unusual attempts to impeach President Donald Trump, was escorted out of the House chamber on Tuesday night during Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress.
“You don’t have a mandate,” Green shouted as he extended his cane for emphasis.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Republicans quickly responded by chanting “USA! USA!” in an effort to silence Green’s outburst.
Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich noted that some Republican lawmakers also fired back with sharp remarks.
South Carolina’s Rep. Nancy Mace reportedly told Green to “sit your a** down,” while Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene added, “throw him out.”

“Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the house and to cease any further disruptions,” Johnson declared, punctuating his words by striking the gavel.
Since Green refused to sit down, Johnson’s order resulted in his removal.

During Trump’s first term, Green introduced impeachment resolutions against the president at least three separate times, all for actions that did not meet the constitutional threshold for impeachment. None of those efforts attracted more than 95 votes.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, Green once again attempted to file impeachment articles in February, this time in response to Trump’s suggestion that the U.S. consider occupying the Gaza Strip as part of a proposed peace plan between Israel and Hamas.
