Speaker Johnson Shares Huge News After Meeting with Trump
House Speaker Mike Johnson shared a major update after meeting with President-elect Donald Trump this week.
In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Johnson discussed Trump’s visit to Capitol Hill to celebrate with Republicans following their victories in reclaiming the White House, retaining control of the House, and gaining the U.S. Senate.
Johnson promised swift action on Trump’s agenda, saying, “We’re going to be very aggressive; we’re going to move the America First Agenda for the American people beginning on day one.”
On Wednesday, House Republicans reaffirmed their support for Johnson as their leader for the new Congress. This endorsement came after Trump expressed his full backing for Johnson in a Capitol Hill meeting. At a closed-door session held at the Hyatt Regency near the Capitol, Johnson, now the 56th House speaker, received unanimous support for re-election, as reported by the New York Post.
Trump voiced his unwavering support for Johnson, telling him, along with Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Majority Whip Tom Emmer, to “stick together” in the upcoming congressional term, according to sources.
Trump also pledged to “carry out the largest deportation operation in history,” a declaration that reportedly drew applause from House Republicans.
In a lighthearted moment, Trump joked about running a fourth time, although he wasn’t serious. “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you do something else unless you say he’s so good we’ve got to figure something out,” he quipped to the gathering.
“It’s nice to win. It’s always nice to win. A lot of good friends in this room,” Trump continued. “We had historic numbers, especially for the president,” he added. “But the House did very well, and I think we’re responsible for helping you.”
Trump also reflected on the victory, saying, “We won it every way—all seven swing states by a lot … New Jersey is right, just a few points. It’s got them very worried because they said, well, next time if we go up even a fraction of what we went up, you’re going to win New York, you’re going to win New Jersey, you’re going to win places that weren’t winnable. California, too,” he said.

Earlier this week, Trump made headlines with his plan to “dismantle” what he calls the “deep state” and reclaim American democracy from Washington’s “corruption.”
In a video address, Trump outlined a ten-point strategy aimed at reforming the federal government, particularly within national security and intelligence agencies. His plan includes a mix of executive orders, reforms, and structural changes to improve transparency and accountability in these agencies.
Trump highlighted his intention to immediately reissue a 2020 Executive Order that would grant the president authority to remove what he described as “rogue bureaucrats.” He emphasized, “Here is my plan to destroy the deep state and take back our democracy from corrupt Washington once and for all—and corrupt it is. First, I will instantly reissue my 2020 Executive Order that gives the President the power to fire bad bureaucrats, and I will use that power very strongly.”
Trump also proposed creating a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to investigate and expose any concealed misconduct by government agencies. He explained, “We will set up a truth and reconciliation commission to declassify and publish all documents on the buying, censorship, and corruption by the deep state.” This initiative aims to increase transparency within powerful organizations, allowing the public insight into their operations.
Additionally, Trump plans to implement a “major crackdown” on government leaks, targeting individuals who share information with the media. He accused these leakers of collaborating with “fake news” to destabilize the government. “We will crack down hard on government leakers who work with fake news to spread lies and undermine our government and democracy,” he said, suggesting potential criminal charges for those involved.
