Sunny Hostin Blindsided - What She Hoped Would Happen to Trump Is Now Happening to Her Husband
Well, well, well. How the turn tables have... something.
Before diving into the hypocrisy of the co-hosts of "The View," let’s make one thing clear: In this country, people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
That’s a concept seemingly lost on "The View," where hosts like Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and most notably, Sunny Hostin, regularly jump to conclusions—particularly when it comes to Donald Trump, their favorite target—regardless of whether the legal process has run its course.
Take, for example, this 2023 clip where Hostin confidently claimed Trump had committed "so many crimes" as if allegations alone were definitive proof:
"You can’t commit so many crimes and think that you are above the law, even if you are the president," Hostin stated, seemingly unaware of the irony.
(An important note: Hostin is a former attorney, which makes her statements even more perplexing. One would assume a lawyer would have a better grasp of due process, yet here we are.)
Or consider her remarks in 2022 when she appeared to assert Trump’s guilt in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol events.
"I heard obstruction of an official proceeding, because he tried to obstruct the Jan. 6 electoral count, and we have him on the phone trying to do it," Hostin said, according to The Wrap. "Then we also have criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States, to defraud the very American citizens that voted. We have him, again, on the phone as part of a conspiracy.
"And then just common law fraud! Just common law fraud."
She added, "I do think what I heard yesterday was the best case forward against the former president. I heard evidence of criminality, and I thought, my God, this committee is doing the work and laying the groundwork for Merrick Garland’s Justice Department. I heard federal crimes."
Yet, despite all that, Trump was not convicted of any crime related to Jan. 6. But you probably already knew that.
What you might not know is that Hostin’s husband, surgeon Emmanuel Hostin, has been implicated in a massive fraud case under New York’s RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) law, as reported by the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
"Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Hostin is among nearly 200 defendants named in one of the largest RICO cases ever filed in New York," the British outlet revealed.
It further stated: "He and many of the others are accused of getting kickbacks by performing surgery and fraudulently billing a company that insures taxi companies and Uber and Lyft drivers."
The lawsuit alleges, "Hostin knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries."
To make matters worse for Sunny Hostin’s credibility, a resurfaced clip shows her essentially admitting that her husband operates on uninsured patients and then seeks reimbursement from insurance companies afterward:
By her own standards, doesn’t this make him guilty? After all, when it came to Trump, Hostin showed little regard for facts, insisting that mere accusations were enough. Shouldn’t the same logic apply here?
Of course, legally speaking, Dr. Hostin is entitled to due process, as his legal team has dismissed the case as a "blanket, scattershot, meritless lawsuit by a near-bankrupt insurance carrier." That’s how the system works.
But if we were to follow his wife’s own twisted reasoning, he should already be behind bars, right? No need for a trial—just lock him up and throw away the key.
Doesn’t that illustrate just how absurd and unjust that mindset truly is?
For those interested in seeing whether Hostin addresses this controversy, "The View" airs Monday through Friday on ABC.
