Ted Cruz Urges Trump to Focus on Kamala Harris for the Remainder of the Campaign

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas recently emphasized the importance of former President Donald Trump keeping his attention on Vice President Kamala Harris, citing her past statements and policy stances as crucial areas to expose for voters. Cruz believes these positions are "radical" and should be highlighted throughout the rest of the campaign.

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, the two discussed the debate that took place earlier in the week.

Hannity remarked, "I mean, and there’s so much that we don’t understand. Defund, dismantle, reimagine ICE, the police, the Minneapolis, they wanted to talk about January 6th. There were 600 riots in the summer of 2020. She tweets out the Minnesota Bail Fund four days after the police precinct is burned."

He went on to list Harris' controversial positions: "'They won’t stop. They shouldn’t stop. We’re not going to stop' — all things that she said. Eighteen to 24-year-olds are stupid. Abolish the filibuster to pass the Green New Deal. Inflation is transitory. The border is secure. We’re proud of ‘Bidenomics.’ The country needs to be woke. We’ll never deport illegals. And now we’re going to give free sex change operations to convicted felons and illegal immigrants. How’s that going to go over in your state of Texas?"

Cruz responded by saying, "Look, it goes over terribly. But what you just did, what I just did, is what the Trump campaign needs to do between now and Election Day, which is lay out the actual facts of her record because she won’t confront them."

Cruz pointed specifically to Harris' voting record on abortion, explaining, "On abortion, she said ‘no, no, no, I’m not for late-term abortions, eight and nine-month abortions.’ Well, she has voted for legislation that would legalize abortion up until the moment of birth." He also added that Harris had voted against the "Born-Alive Infant Protection Act," legislation that protects infants who survive abortions.

When it comes to crime, Cruz criticized Harris for her support of "defund the police" and "defund ICE." He went on to state, "Kamala Harris... compared ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, to the KKK."

Cruz stressed that it was essential for Trump’s campaign to bring these facts to light: "The corporate media is not going to do it. And, listen, her radical record is radical."

He also compared Harris’ record to that of his own opponent, Colin Allred, mentioning that both politicians "vote repeatedly in favor of open borders," support massive spending, and oppose American energy independence.

Cruz concluded by pointing out what he sees as hypocrisy in Harris’ campaign ads, which feature Trump’s border wall despite her opposition to it. He called on the campaign to "bring the facts back up and prosecute this case on the merits."

Former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also criticized Harris and the debate moderators following her debate with Trump, saying that critical issues like inflation and the economy were ignored. Kennedy noted, "We have a first-generation of American kids who can’t get into homes. We have the unaffordability at the gas station, at the grocery store." He described the economic struggles facing many Americans, such as elderly people cutting back on medications to afford food or fuel.
