Tim Walz Calls for the Formation of a 'Shadow Government'
May your enemies be bereft of common sense, self-awareness, and the capacity to learn from their own missteps or recognize their best interests.
If Confucius never said anything quite like that, he certainly should have.
In a clip posted Friday on the social media platform X, Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota—the comically outmatched and frequently unsettling 2024 running mate to former Vice President Kamala Harris—addressed what appeared to be a small gathering of supporters. He urged Democrats to establish a "shadow government" in response to President Donald Trump’s administration.
"We see one of the first things they do is try and restrict the vote," Walz declared.
Though he did not elaborate, it seems Walz was referring to Trump’s recent executive order aimed at enforcing federal law by preventing non-citizens from registering to vote and ensuring that only mail-in ballots received by Election Day would be counted.
Naturally, Democrats oppose any measure that makes election fraud more difficult.
Walz then conceded that he was unsure how exactly to respond but suggested a possible course of action.
"I think we need a shadow government," he proposed. "So when all these things come up every single day, we’ve got an alternate press conference telling the truth about what things are happening."

By "shadow government"—a term with undeniably treasonous overtones—Walz likely meant a "Shadow Cabinet." In the British parliamentary system, the opposition leader assembles a "team of senior spokespeople" to counter the ruling party and "present itself as an alternative government-in-waiting."
Essentially, Walz seems to believe that the Democrats’ problems stem not from their unpopular policies, but from a lack of structured messaging.
For instance, in the same speech, the failed vice-presidential candidate insisted that Democrats needed to be louder and more forceful in defending policies that Americans have already rejected.
"We’ve been talking about this for years as a country of immigrants," Walz asserted in another clip on X. "And we let them define the issue on immigration."
Apparently, Democrats "allowed" Republicans to highlight the border crisis that millions of Americans have also observed.
But Walz went even further, arguing that Americans would embrace DEI and wokeness—if only Democrats would champion these ideas unapologetically.
"We let them define the issue on DEI. And we let them define what woke is. We got ourselves in this mess because we weren’t bold enough to stand up and say ‘You’re d*** right, we’re proud of these policies. We’re gonna put them in, and we’re gonna execute them.'"
NEW: Tim Walz says Democrats are losing elections because they’re not pushing hard enough in favor of DEI, wokeism, and allowing illegal immigration.

Wow, this guy is brilliant and totally right. He should run in 2028.

Beyond Walz’s enthusiastic embrace of his party’s disastrous ideas, the most absurd claim in his entire speech was the notion that Democrats somehow lack an organized messaging machine capable of reaching the public.
As any honest observer knows, the reality has long been the opposite. Democrats have enjoyed near-total control over the dissemination of information and opinion. The vast majority of mainstream media outlets promote their preferred policies, with Hollywood and academia reinforcing the same narratives.
By all means, though, let the same unpopular Democratic politicians take the stage every day. Have them repeat Walz’s words. Surely, that will improve their odds—right?
