Tim Walz Makes Mistake That May Come Back to Bite Him After Firing Shot at JD Vance's Life Growing Up

After the rough performance he delivered in the vice-presidential debate earlier this month, one would expect Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota to have learned a lesson.

As he continues on the campaign trail, Walz, who is Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, could focus on any number of topics. Yet, earlier this week in Pennsylvania, he chose a different path.

In a video shared on the social media platform X on Tuesday, Walz made the unwise decision to criticize his opponent in the 2024 election, Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio. In doing so, he inadvertently highlighted Vance's background and, more importantly, emphasized the stark contrast between the two vice-presidential candidates.

“Sen. Vance, he became a media darling,” Walz said. “He wrote a book about the place he grew up. But the premise was — was trashing that place where he grew up rather than lifting it up.”

It’s hard not to pause at the irony of calling Vance a “media darling.”

More importantly, aside from his running mate, former President Donald Trump, Vance has become perhaps the strongest advocate Middle America's forgotten people have had in decades.

So, bringing up Vance's modest beginnings and his deep-rooted connection to them probably wasn’t the best move on Walz’s part.

Yet, the governor pressed on.

“This guy’s a venture capitalist cosplaying like he’s a cowboy or something,” Walz continued. “I don’t even know what a venture capitalist does most of the time.”

In reality, it was Walz who seemed to be projecting his own “cosplaying” onto Vance.

Whenever Vance addresses a crowd, he comes across as the poised, confident, and intelligent Yale graduate, husband, father, and statesman that people expect. He doesn’t beat his audience over the head with tales of his humble beginnings, nor does he pretend to be someone he's not. That authenticity and lack of pretense reflect his genuine humility.

On the other hand, Walz donned a flannel shirt and ball cap, and has posed for awkward hunting photos, trying to convince his audience that he's just like them.

Because, you know, every regular person in Middle America has authoritarian tendencies, a long-standing fascination with communist China, and a peculiar interest in children's sexuality.

For the bulk of his 35-minute speech, delivered in rural western Pennsylvania, Walz spent his time spreading misinformation about Trump. You can watch the entire speech below.

Ultimately, Walz made a mistake by even bringing up Vance.

Voters have already seen the difference between the sharp, focused Ohio senator and the stumbling governor from Minnesota. And that comparison doesn’t play in favor of the Harris campaign.
