Top Republican Endorses Dan Bongino For Secret Service Director
Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has seemingly voiced support for former Secret Service agent and conservative commentator Dan Bongino to head the agency.
“You should be the Secret Service director,” Paulina Luna tweeted to Bongino on Thursday.
The exchange began when Paulina Luna shared a meme featuring President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, and several prospective Cabinet members.
Bongino replied to the tweet with, “Can’t arrive quickly enough.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan also expressed his backing for Bongino during a recent appearance on podcaster Benny Johnson’s show. Jordan stated he would endorse Trump’s decision to nominate Bongino to lead the Federal Protective Service.
“I think Dan would be great,” said the Ohio Republican. “Dan Bongino at the Secret Service would be with us on the change that needs to take place to focus on the mission of that critical agency.”
According to a November Forbes report, Trump was considering both Bongino and Sean Curran for the position.
Bongino has been a vocal critic of the Secret Service following two attempted attacks on Trump’s life over the summer.
He previously wrote, “Let me be perfectly clear: the [first] assassination attempt on President Trump was a catastrophic failure on behalf of the United States Secret Service.”
This criticism came in the wake of former USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation, which occurred after intense congressional scrutiny. Bipartisan lawmakers reportedly demanded she step down or face termination due to what they described as the agency’s “gross lack of competence” during the first incident.
Forbes also highlighted Trump’s active decision-making regarding key appointments, stating: “Trump has chosen people for a handful of Senate-confirmed Cabinet-level jobs, and he’s picked a White House chief of staff, a communications director, and a national security adviser, among the key roles that don’t require confirmation.” The report noted that Trump has since announced numerous other appointments.

In the days leading up to the November 5th election, Bongino gained significant attention after accusing Kellyanne Conway and certain Republicans of undermining Trump and his campaign.
Bongino alleged this plot was aimed at Trump’s selection of J.D. Vance as his running mate.
Media claims suggesting Trump regretted choosing Vance were dismissed by Bongino as “absolute bullsh*t” on his podcast, The Dan Bongino Show. He argued that leaks from Trump’s circle likely fueled such reports. Bongino referenced a Daily Mail article claiming Trump was “melting down” over Vance and attributed these rumors to internal sabotage.
“There’s a lot of internal sabotage going on right now that I honestly did not want to highlight because I like to stay focused on the Democrats and I was hoping it would go away. It’s not,” Bongino commented.
He further asserted that Vance’s cautious stance on Ukraine has created friction within some Republican circles.
“I suspect strongly this was a leak from people who wanted another candidate for vice president,” Bongino said, pointing to what he called the “Kellyanne Conway camp.” Conway, a former senior advisor in Trump’s administration, was accused of advocating for alternative candidates who favored a more aggressive approach to Ukraine.
“Some of the other candidates were very interested in a more muscular posture in Ukraine where there was a lot of money to be made for a lot of people. JD Vance is interested in a more cautious approach to Ukraine,” Bongino explained.
Despite these challenges, Bongino praised Trump and Vance as a “great ticket” but criticized those he believes are working to undermine them.
“Instead of just shutting up and trying to win now with this great ticket, there are people out there sabotaging the ticket right now,” he stated.
In a pointed message to Conway and others, Bongino warned, “You’ve been warned. I’m going to say to Kellyanne and others: It’s time to pipe down. You’ve been warned. I’ve had about enough.”
