‘Traitor’ Liz Cheney Ripped By Wyoming Voters For Endorsing Kamala Harris

Former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney has thrown her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential race. After parting ways with the GOP, Cheney has been campaigning across Wisconsin, a critical swing state, in favor of the Democratic ticket.

Fox News visited Cheney's home state of Wyoming to gauge local reactions to her endorsement of Harris. Most voters in the state, known as the Cowboy State, were critical of Cheney, branding her a “traitor” and a “turncoat” for backing Harris over the Republican candidate.

“I’m not impressed with that at all,” said Clark Johnson when asked by Fox News Digital about his opinion on Cheney’s appearance with Harris in Wisconsin last week.

“I think it’s ridiculous. I think she’s a traitor to the country,” Wyoming resident Gunner Berg commented on Cheney's participation in the campaign.

Cheney’s well-known opposition to Trump has alienated her from the Republican Party and much of her former base, which largely supported Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 elections. Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is now at odds with a state expected to remain solidly red in the upcoming election.

Many of the people Fox spoke to in Casper expressed disdain for Cheney, suggesting her current political stance would make it difficult for her to win any future elections in Wyoming.

“I’m definitely not a fan, and it definitely kind of turned some tables there,” noted Dillon Sigman, who also added that he doesn’t see Cheney having any chance of success if she attempts to run for office in Wyoming again.

Another Wyomingite, who gave his name as Ralph, criticized Cheney's shift, saying, “I think Liz Cheney, who was originally a Wyomingite, went to Connecticut and then returned to Wyoming in cowboy blue jeans and a rodeo belt buckle, has completely flipped. She’s now a turncoat, siding with the Democrats and supporting all the woke DEI initiatives and dysfunction in the government.”

Some Wyoming residents, while supportive of Cheney’s right to back the candidate of her choice, felt she no longer represents the values of their state. “I support her decision to campaign for whoever she chooses. However, I do not think she is a voice for the Wyoming people. The majority of people I know do not back Kamala Harris or that campaign,” Alicia Kellch told Fox Digital.

Kellch mentioned that those who initially backed Cheney “felt sold out after she took office and revealed her true agenda.” She added that Cheney’s chances of being re-elected in Wyoming were slim to none if she continued on this path.

Another resident, Chuck Kucera, was blunt in his assessment, calling Cheney a “backstabber” and sarcastically remarking that “a Harris campaign event is probably a good place for her.”

John Shelton was equally dismissive of Cheney’s future in Wyoming politics, stating that she could “never” win office there again, going so far as to say, “I wouldn’t vote for her even if she’s the last one to be voted for.”

Not everyone was entirely against Cheney’s actions, however. One Wyoming resident told Fox that Cheney teaming up with Harris didn’t “bother” him personally, though he acknowledged that “most folks in Wyoming don’t agree with” her endorsement of Harris.

During her speech to Harris supporters in Wisconsin, Cheney urged the crowd to “stand in truth” and “reject the depraved cruelty of Donald Trump.”

In response, Trump has attacked Cheney, calling her “a low IQ War Hawk” who is “grievously afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

In Wyoming’s 2022 GOP congressional primary, Cheney was soundly defeated by Harriet Hageman, a candidate endorsed by Trump.

While Cheney hasn’t officially announced plans to run for another political office, she continues to fuel speculation about a potential presidential bid.
