Trump and Musk Meet for Huge White House Discussion: Report

A report released on Wednesday stated that former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk have met to discuss a potential role for Musk if Trump secures a second term in office next year.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the idea is for the Tesla and SpaceX founder, who also owns X, to assume an “advisory role” should Trump win the upcoming presidential election.

The report emphasized that no decisions have been finalized.

It mentioned that the two men were “developing a friendly rapport.”

Citing “people familiar with the talks,” the report stated that Trump and Musk discussed how Musk might have “formal input and influence over policies related to border security and the economy.”

According to the Journal, Musk informed the former president that he has been encouraging major business leaders to withhold support from President Joe Biden in his campaign for a second term.

Additionally, Musk and billionaire investor Nelson Peltz briefed Trump on a “data-driven project to prevent voter fraud,” as noted in the report.

It was mentioned that Trump, Musk, and other “wealthy and powerful” individuals met in March at Peltz’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Trump campaign spokesman Brian Hughes was quoted in the Journal, stating that Trump is the sole decision-maker regarding “what role an individual plays in his presidency” if he wins in November.

Hughes told the New York Post, “But it has been widely reported and is demonstrated in a number of ways that many of the nation’s most important leaders in technology and innovation are concerned with the damage done to their industry by Biden’s failures to handle our economy and his moves to overburden innovators with government bureaucracy and unrelenting regulation.”

The Journal reported that while Musk has indicated he will not financially support either candidate, he will use his influence to oppose Biden.

The report detailed that Musk and Trump have discussed topics including illegal immigration, the Space Force, and electric vehicles—on which the two men have publicly divergent views. Musk, as the head of Tesla, which manufactures EVs, contrasts with Trump’s opposition to Biden’s push for electric vehicles.

Recently, the Journal noted, Musk and Trump, who previously did not share a cordial relationship, have increased their communication by phone.

The report added that Musk has encouraged Trump to return to the social media platform X. Currently, Trump posts almost exclusively on his Truth Social network.

Trump has acknowledged meeting with Musk in March but did not reveal the details of their conversation, according to the Post.

“Look, I’ve been friendly with him over the years. I’ve helped him when I was president. I helped him. I’ve liked him,” the former president said.
