Trump Announces Who He’s Chosen For Press Secretary
President-elect Donald Trump has revealed his choice for press secretary, surprising many who had been speculating about the decision.
On Friday, Trump named campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt as the new White House Press Secretary.
“Today, the 45th and 47th President of the United States Donald J. Trump announced that Karoline Leavitt will serve as White House Press Secretary. Karoline was the Trump Campaign National Press Secretary and previously served in the Trump White House as Assistant Press Secretary,” the announcement stated.
Trump praised Leavitt’s capabilities, saying, “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary. Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”
Leavitt expressed her gratitude on X, formerly known as Twitter, responding, “Thank you, President Trump, for believing in me. I am humbled and honored. Let’s MAGA!”
This announcement comes amid a series of appointments that have sent shockwaves through Washington, D.C.
Trump also disclosed his intent to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
“For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health,” Trump said in a statement on Thursday.
He emphasized the importance of the role, stating, “The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country.”
Trump highlighted Kennedy’s qualifications, adding, “Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!”
According to Politico, Trump’s decision to appoint Kennedy, who recently ended his presidential campaign to endorse Trump, may stir controversy among public health experts. Trump reportedly assured Kennedy he would have full autonomy over health and food policy, encouraging him to “go wild” in these areas once in office.
Additionally, pro-Trump figures Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed to spearhead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency.
In a statement on Tuesday, Trump announced, “I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE].”
Notably, the acronym ‘DOGE’ aligns with the cryptocurrency that Musk frequently promotes.
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump said.
He clarified that the Department of Government Efficiency is not a formal government agency. Instead, it will “provide advice and guidance from outside of government” and work closely with the White House and Office of Management and Budget to implement government reform.
Musk, as quoted in Trump’s statement, declared, “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!”
