Trump Brings Atom Bomb To First Rally Since Assassination Attempt
Leading presidential candidate, Donald Trump, criticized Democrats for portraying him as a threat to election integrity and stated that he “took a bullet for democracy” while referencing the recent assassination attempt against him during his first rally back since he was shot in the head at his previous one.
Trump addressed a crowd in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday afternoon. This marked his first public appearance since he was injured by a gunman in Pennsylvania last week. At the Michigan event, Trump wore a smaller ear bandage compared to the one he had previously shown at the GOP conference in Milwaukee.
Trump referenced the controversial “Project 2025” report by the Heritage Foundation, stating that Democrats consistently brand him as an extremist.
According to Trump, Project 2025 was penned by the “radical right,” which he described as the polar opposite of the “radical left.”
Despite offering more qualifications and distancing himself from these views, Trump reiterated the notion, frequently highlighted by his opponents since his first campaign, that he is an extremist who despises democracy.
“They keep saying, ‘He’s a threat to democracy.’ I’m saying, what the hell did I do for democracy? Last week I took a bullet for democracy.”
Additionally, he repeatedly mentioned the shooting, even defending the media’s coverage of the tragic event.
During the rally in Grand Rapids, Trump expressed support for the media, despite his audience booing when he pointed out the press area.
This occurred during his campaign rally speech with his running mate JD Vance on Saturday. Trump showed gratitude for the outpouring of well-wishes, especially recognizing Butler Memorial Hospital and the commendable citizens of Butler, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding area for their efforts on his behalf and the love they showed to everyone.
“Nobody’s seen anything like it, and hopefully they never will again,” he remarked.
Trump then mentioned the media who reported on the harrowing incident.
“They had cameras blazing,” he said. “I guess it was different in that way too, because we were right in the middle — all those. See, look at all the news back there. And they were all blazing, they were, they were going.”
As he pointed out the press and their cameras at the rally, the crowd began to boo, but Trump intervened.
“No, no. No they covered it fairly,” said Trump. “They couldn’t believe what they were seeing either, so they did.”
“You did cover it fairly,” he said to the press.
I want to thank Butler Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania for the incredible job they did and service they gave, and all of the great citizens of Butler, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area and everyone else for the job they did and the love that they showed us all. It was incredible, actually. What a time that was. What a time that was. Nobody’s seen anything like it, and hopefully they never will again. And they had cameras blazing. I guess it was different in that way too, because we were right in the middle — all those. See, look at all the news back there. And they were all blazing, they were, they were going. No, no. No they covered it fairly. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing either, so they did. You did cover it fairly.
