Trump Cabinet Nominees Targeted with Swatting and Bomb Threats, News Release Reveals
In a statement released Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that several of his cabinet nominees have been subjected to “swatting” incidents and bomb threats.
For those unfamiliar, “swatting” involves placing a fraudulent call to emergency services to report a grave crime or emergency at the home or workplace of the target. This malicious act is intended to provoke an armed police response, creating potentially dangerous situations for those targeted.
The news highlights the escalating security concerns surrounding Trump’s incoming administration and the lengths to which individuals are willing to go to disrupt the political process.
The full statement is below:
“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them.
These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting.’ In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action.
President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation by ensuring a safe and prosperous future.
With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us.” – Karoline Leavitt, Trump-Vance Transition Spokeswoman
