Trump Declares Haley, Pompeo Excluded from Future Administration
President-elect Donald Trump recently announced that Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo, two prominent Republicans who endorsed him, will not be “invited” to serve in his next administration.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” Trump posted on Truth Social early Saturday evening.
However, he acknowledged his previous collaboration with them, saying he “very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously,” and expressed gratitude “for their service to our Country.” He signed off with his signature rallying cry: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Haley, who served as UN ambassador during Trump’s first term, had also run against him for the GOP nomination last year. While her views on Trump have been mixed, she recently published a Wall Street Journal op-ed in support of his campaign.
“I don’t agree with Mr. Trump 100% of the time,” Haley noted, “but I do agree with him most of the time, and I disagree with Ms. Harris nearly all the time. That makes this an easy call.”
Pompeo, Trump’s former secretary of state, hasn’t been a constant public supporter but has endorsed Trump’s candidacy. In an October open letter signed by over 400 national security officials and Gold Star families, Pompeo backed Trump, writing, “From a world at peace under President Trump, we are closer to a third world war than ever before under the Biden-Harris Administration.” The letter criticized the current administration’s policies, saying, “U.S. national security has been profoundly damaged by the failed policies of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.”
In related news, Trump recently appointed Susie Wiles, a co-chair of his 2024 campaign, as his chief of staff. Wiles previously worked with Trump’s Save America super PAC and played a key role in his 2016 campaign in Florida.
“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said. He praised Wiles as “tough, smart, innovative,” adding, “It is a well-deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
Several world leaders reached out on Wednesday to congratulate Trump on his historic comeback and victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Dear Donald and Melania Trump, Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on the X platform. “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose own nation is under siege from Russia, expressed cautious optimism about Trump’s support for Ukraine in their ongoing conflict.
According to Fox News, Trump also received congratulations from other international leaders, including El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
