Trump Declares ‘Invasion’ Of Illegal Migrants Over After Historic Drop

President Donald Trump used social media over the weekend to declare, “The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” marking the end of his first full month back in the White House. During this period, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded only 8,326 illegal border crossings—a record low.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump drew attention to the southern border numbers, emphasizing that all individuals caught by Border Patrol were “quickly ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America.”
This message follows Trump’s immediate move on day one of his presidency to declare a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The 8,326 apprehensions reported during Trump’s first full month represent a staggering 96% drop from the highest levels seen under President Joe Biden, specifically in December 2023 when CBP logged 301,981 encounters at the southern border.
“This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” Trump said in the post. “In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants.”
New data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shows 271,484 removals took place in fiscal year 2024, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported roughly 700,000 removals and returns—marking the highest total recorded since 2010.
Under the previous administration, daily border apprehensions often approached 10,000 illegal crossings—more than the entire monthly total reported under Trump’s current administration.
As noted by Fox News, these sharp improvements at the border stem entirely from executive actions and stronger policy messaging—not from new legislation passed through Congress.
“Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation,” Trump stated.
Throughout his campaign, Trump pledged to prioritize border security and combat illegal immigration. After returning to office, he swiftly signed executive orders to declare a border emergency and direct military forces to help manage the crisis.
February was the lowest month in recorded history for encounters at our border. The world is hearing our message: do not come to our country illegally. If you do, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back.

His new policies also put an end to birthright citizenship, suspended the refugee admissions program, discontinued an app used to facilitate migrant entry through humanitarian parole, and resumed construction of the border wall.
Following these orders, the Pentagon sent military personnel to assist at the southern border, while Guantánamo Bay was opened to detain migrants.
In addition, DHS reversed limits placed on ICE during the Biden presidency, granting broader powers to enter “sensitive” sites, fast-track deportations, and reevaluate the parole status of migrants who were granted entry under humanitarian exceptions.
Internal DHS figures shared with Fox News Digital reveal that between Jan. 20 and Feb. 8, ICE completed 11,791 arrests inside the country—a 137% jump compared to the 4,969 arrests made during the same period in 2024.
A crackdown in so-called “sanctuary” cities resulted in over a thousand arrests per day, many involving dangerous offenders and gang members.
The administration also touted financial savings linked to Trump’s border initiatives, including the recovery of tens of millions in federal funds previously spent by New York City to shelter migrants in hotels. In addition, a new executive order instructed all federal agencies to review programs offering benefits to illegal immigrants and to “take corrective action.”
The goal of this order is to prevent taxpayer dollars from supporting sanctuary city policies or aiding illegal immigration.
Trump’s complete statement on Truth Social read:
