Trump Fires Multiple Senior White House Officials
Several officials from President Donald Trump’s National Security Council (NSC) have been dismissed.
An article from Axios, released Thursday morning, was confirmed by DailyMail.com.
The dismissals stem from an incident involving National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, who mistakenly added Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, to a Signal chat where senior officials were discussing a potential strike on the Houthis in Yemen.
Following what has been termed "Signalgate," Trump has publicly expressed support for Waltz, a former Florida congressman, despite certain White House insiders branding him a “f***ing idiot.”
However, according to a report from The New York Times on Thursday morning, far-right activist Laura Loomer visited the White House on Wednesday and urged that the NSC be purged.
Loomer allegedly presented research indicating that some NSC members did not show sufficient loyalty to the president.
‘Out of respect for President Trump and the privacy of the Oval Office, I’m going to decline on divulging any details about my Oval Office meeting with President Trump,’ Loomer told DailyMail.com on Thursday.
‘It was an honor to meet with President Trump and present him with my research findings. I will continue working hard to support his agenda, and I will continue reiterating the importance of strong vetting, for the sake of protecting the President and our national security,’ she added.
According to The Times, Waltz was present at the meeting and defended his colleagues.
An official response from NSC spokeswoman Brian Hughes stated, “NSC doesn’t comment on personnel matters.”
Yet, as reported by CNN on Thursday, Brian Walsh, Thomas Boodry, and David Feith were let go.
The network suggested that Trump’s meeting with Loomer—who had previously been targeted for removal from MAGA circles by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene—was directly responsible for the firings.
Despite this, Loomer remains within Trump’s inner circle.
Among those dismissed were Feith, responsible for technology and national security; Boodry, a senior director for legislative affairs and Waltz’s former legislative director in Congress; and Walsh, an intelligence director with past experience working for now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Feith had also served in Trump’s first-term administration at the State Department.
Loomer had reportedly set her sights on removing Waltz’s deputy, Alex Wong, along with another NSC member directly involved in the Houthi Signal discussion.
She suggested that Wong was untrustworthy due to his wife's tenure at the Department of Justice under both the Obama and Biden administrations and because her father owned shares in a Chinese satellite company.
Loomer, referencing Wong’s heritage—his parents immigrated from China—stated in an online video last week, ‘I don’t know why we have Chinese individuals in positions of national security.’
