Trump Gave JD Vance Two Words of Advice Before VP Debate

During a recent appearance, former President Donald Trump shared advice he gave to his running mate, Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, ahead of Vance’s debate with Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota.

“Have fun,” Trump said, recalling his words to Vance, as shown in a video posted by The Washington Post. “I said, ‘J.D., have fun.’” Trump emphasized, “I said, ‘J.D., have a lot of fun.’”

In the debate, Vance criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies, which he claimed Vice President Kamala Harris, often referred to as the administration’s “border czar,” played a major role in shaping, according to Fox News.

“Before we talk about deportations, we have to stop the bleeding. We have a historic immigration crisis because Kamala Harris said she wanted to undo all of Donald Trump’s border policies,” Vance argued.

“You’ve gotta reimplement Donald Trump’s border policies, build the wall, reimplement deportations,” he continued.

He stressed that deportations should “start with the criminal migrants.”

“About a million of those people have committed some form of crime in addition to crossing the border illegally,” Vance said. “I think you start deportations on those folks.”

Vance also criticized Washington for failing to enforce existing laws, saying the key is to empower law enforcement, rather than restrict them. “First of all, the vast majority of what we need to do to secure the southern border is just empowering law enforcement to do their job,” Vance noted.

“I’ve been to the southern border more than our ‘border czar’ Kamala Harris has been,” he added. “It’s heartbreaking because the Border Patrol agents just want to be empowered to do their job.”

Vance also addressed recent controversies stemming from community-based claims in Springfield, Ohio, where local residents reported that Haitian immigrants had impacted the quality of life. He brought these concerns to the national stage during the debate.

“Now, Gov. Walz brought up the community of Springfield, and he’s very worried about the things that I’ve said in Springfield,” Vance remarked.

“In Springfield, Ohio, and in communities all across this country, you’ve got schools that are overwhelmed, hospitals that are overwhelmed, and housing that’s completely unaffordable because we’ve brought in millions of illegal immigrants to compete with Americans for scarce homes,” he said.

He concluded by emphasizing his concern for American citizens, saying, “The people that I’m most worried about in Springfield, Ohio, are the American citizens who have had their lives destroyed by Kamala Harris’ open border. It is a disgrace, Tim, and I actually think I agree with you. I think you want to solve this problem, but I don’t think Kamala Harris does.”
