Trump Gets Game-Changing Campaign News
Former President Donald Trump has recently been buoyed by significant financial support that could greatly benefit his campaign efforts.
A report by Fox News reveals that a slew of wealthy benefactors are now throwing their support behind Trump following his clinching of the Republican nomination for the upcoming November presidential race. This development comes at a crucial time as Trump seeks to bridge the fundraising gap with President Joe Biden.
This weekend, Trump is set to host a gathering of elite Republican donors at Mar-A-Lago for what's being dubbed the “Inaugural Leadership Dinner.”
Fox News notes that the event will feature billionaire hedge fund leader John Paulson as the head, with casino magnate Steve Wynn, oil mogul Harold Hamm, hospitality magnate Robert Bigelow, and hedge fund titans Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah serving as co-chairs.
The move signals a growing consolidation of Republican support behind Trump, highlighted by Bigelow and Hamm’s pivot from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis following his post-Iowa race exit, as well as Hamm’s earlier financial backing of Nikki Haley’s unsuccessful presidential bid.
The event will also see the participation of former Trump Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, alongside sports franchise owners Todd Ricketts and Woody Johnson, affiliated with the Chicago Cubs and New York Jets, respectively.
Securing a “Chairman” level ticket for the event, which includes a dining seat near Trump, costs a staggering $824,600.
In light of Trump’s dominant primary victory, John Paulsen remarked to Bloomberg, "Now that President Trump won the primaries, defeating all 10 contenders by a landslide, I think it’s time for Republicans to unite behind him. For that reason, I’m hosting this inaugural event to galvanize the broad support there is for the president."
This fundraising initiative follows closely on the heels of a New York City event for President Biden, which successfully garnered over $26 million for his re-election effort. Despite the fundraising triumph, the Biden event saw guests being aggressively heckled by pro-Palestine protestors with chants like “genocide Joe” and declarations of refusal to support Biden’s candidacy.
Trump’s upcoming weekend event marks the commencement of an aggressive fundraising campaign, now that he is the confirmed Republican nominee. Notably, a recent fundraiser at Mar-A-Lago featuring Kari Lake raised an unprecedented $1 million, setting a new record for non-incumbent candidate fundraising. Additionally, Trump previously convened with another group of potential affluent supporters in Palm Beach, including Elon Musk, last month.
