Trump Gets Huge Applause At Town Hall: ‘The Advantage I Have Is That I’ve Done It’

Former President Donald Trump energized a crowd of voters on Wednesday, promising to revitalize America’s economy.

During a Fox News town hall in Georgia, moderated by Harris Faulkner, Trump addressed an audience of women on policy issues crucial to female voters. The town hall was set to focus on topics important to women.

Faulkner noted in a press release previewing the event, “Women are the largest group of registered and active voters in the United States. It is very important for women voters to know where the presidential candidates stand on the issues that are most important to them.”

The audience responded with applause when Trump was asked about his economic plans, and he confidently replied, “The advantage I have is that I’ve done it. We had the greatest economy in the history of our country when I was in office.”

Trump also pledged to eliminate sanctuary cities and restore “normalcy” as he addressed concerns from women about the economy, crime, and abortion in the lead-up to the election.

One woman, whose son is a student at the University of Georgia, brought up public safety after the tragic murder of nursing student Laken Riley earlier this year.

“My son is a Georgia Bulldog. He was on campus the day Laken Riley was murdered,” she told Trump. “It’s terrifying for all the kids, right? I wanted to know… how quickly in a sanctuary city – like they’re calling Athens, Georgia – how quickly can you remove those threats to our societies, so our children can go out on a run in a park in the daytime by themselves?”

Trump assured her, “We can do things in terms of moving people out. We can move them out of the sanctuary cities. We’re going to end all sanctuary cities in the United States, and we’re going to go back to normalcy.”

“And we’re going to have law and order,” Trump emphasized.

Crime ranks as the second most important concern for Republican voters nationwide, following the economy, which polling shows is the top motivator for voters heading to the polls.

Recent surveys indicate that former President Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by nine points on how they would handle the economy, which remains the most pressing issue for voters in the 2024 election.

A Gallup poll revealed that 54% of Americans believe Trump is better at managing the economy than Harris (45%). The economy was the top concern for both Republicans and the general U.S. population, though Democrats didn’t prioritize it as highly.

One woman in the audience raised the issue of rising living costs and asked Trump about his plans for the child tax credit.

“I’m a single mom to two kids, and just in the past three and a half years, my child tax credit has decreased by 80%,” she told Trump. “Last year, I broke my neck, and I tried applying for assistance but was denied because I didn’t make less than $700 a month… what kind of realistic changes can you offer to single parents, married parents, or any parent just trying to afford raising children in today’s world, with things the way they are?”

Trump responded, “I gave you the largest tax cuts in the history of our country. Larger than the Reagan cuts. Larger. I understand exactly what you’re saying. We’re going to readjust things so that it’s fair to everybody, because it’s really not fair to everybody… We’re going up higher, but we’re also going to readjust because you have to make some readjustments.”

“It’s unfair to some people, and we’re not going to have that,” Trump concluded.
