Trump, Hegseth Make Big Announcement from Oval Office

President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a significant announcement on Friday regarding a major advancement in the U.S. military.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump unveiled the U.S. military’s next-generation high-tech fighter jet.
Trump announced that Boeing had secured the contract for "the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet," the F-47, and revealed that it has "been flying for five years." He described the F-47 as "a good size plane" and mentioned that "perhaps" some allies might be able to purchase it. He emphasized that this aircraft "does not fly by itself" and is designed to operate alongside drones, stating it can fly "as many as we want."
"The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built. An experimental version of the plane has secretly been flying for almost 5 years and we’re confident that it massively overpowers the capabilities of any other nation," Trump declared.
"This is a big day for our warfighters. This is a big day for our country, a big day in the world … America is going to have generations in the future of air dominance because of this sixth-generation fighter," Hegseth said.

Trump also addressed the release of the JFK files.
"I don’t think there’s anything that’s Earth-shattering but you’ll have to make that determination," Trump remarked when asked about who was responsible for President Kennedy’s assassination. "Everything is out there, completely open."
Three months into his second term, Trump achieved the highest approval rating of his presidency. Additionally, more Americans now believe the country is on the right track than at any point since 2004, according to a new NBC News poll released on Sunday.
However, Trump has yet to gain the support of a majority of Americans. The poll indicates that 54% of respondents disapprove of his handling of the economy, marking the first time he has lost majority support on this issue in NBC’s polling.
"Even so, the survey found that voters generally feel Trump is bringing ‘the right kind of change’ on the key issues — even tariffs," the New York Post reported, referencing the NBC News survey. "More Americans support his changes to trade policy (41%) than oppose them (38%), according to NBC."
NBC poll respondents appear to be giving Trump some leeway on inflation: 40% stated that his policies are having a positive effect, while 30% believe they are having a negative impact, and 28% think Trump’s policies are not making any difference, according to The Post.
The poll further underscores Trump’s polarizing nature, with his approval rating among Republicans standing strong at 90%, compared to just 4% among Democrats. This marks the largest approval gap between a president’s own party and the opposition party in 80 years, as reported by NBC.
Overall, 47% of voters approve of Trump, while 51% disapprove, marking an all-time high in the poll. He had previously reached 47% approval in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, and again in October 2018.
NBC’s findings align with most other polling, with RealClearPolitics’ latest aggregate showing Trump with an average 48.2% approval rating, according to The Post.
Trump’s approval rating is notably higher than it was at this stage in his first term (44%), based on RCP data, though still below former President Joe Biden’s rating at the same point (53%).
In a positive indicator for Trump, NBC News also found that 44% of registered voters believe the country is on the right track—the highest percentage in two decades—while 54% feel it’s heading in the wrong direction.
While public sentiment remains largely pessimistic, this marks the most optimistic view on the country’s direction in the poll since President George W. Bush’s administration two decades ago.
This represents a stark contrast from the previous administration. Last September, only 28% of polled voters told NBC News they believed the country was on the right track, while 65% felt it was moving in the wrong direction.
One of Trump’s most notable initiatives in his second term was the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a move that has led to protests from government employees and sharp criticism from Democrats.
Although the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) remains controversial (47% view it negatively, while 41% have a positive perception), voters generally see it as a worthwhile idea, with 46% in favor and 40% against, according to The Post.
Trump has been a strong advocate of DOGE and Elon Musk despite political backlash over the initiative’s cost-cutting measures, which aim to reduce the federal deficit.
In another favorable sign for Trump, the Democratic Party’s favorability rating has plummeted to 27%, with 55% viewing the party negatively—marking the lowest rating for Democrats in NBC News’ polling history.
A similar trend was found in a CNN poll, which recorded the lowest favorability rating for Democrats in its polling history, with only 29% holding a favorable opinion of the party, according to The Post.
