Trump Just Issued Chilling 2-Word Statement Right Before RNC
"UNITE AMERICA"
Former President Donald Trump issued a succinct two-word statement following President Joe Biden’s address to the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday night, which came after an assassination attempt on Trump. Biden urged his “fellow Americans” to work together to “reduce the intensity in our political discourse.”
During a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, a gunman opened fire. Trump stated that he was unharmed except for a bullet that grazed his ear. The FBI identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, who fired from a nearby rooftop.
Biden announced on Sunday that he had initiated an independent review of the security infrastructure and reiterated his condemnation of the assassination attempt.
At 2:11 p.m., just three minutes after Biden’s address concluded, Trump shared his message of peace on Truth Social. He had previously made the same statement hours earlier.
“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote. “I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
During Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, gunfire erupted shortly after he began speaking. Trump sustained a gunshot wound to his ear, received medical care at a local facility, and was then discharged.
Several rallygoers were injured in the incident. Corey Comperatore, 50, of Sarver, Pennsylvania, was shot and killed while he “tried to shield family” from the gunfire, according to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, and David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, were also injured and are currently in stable condition.
The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by Secret Service personnel. Crooks was on the roof of a building near the event, outside the security barrier with a metal detector. The shooting is being investigated as an attempted assassination.
“My fellow Americans,” Biden began his live remarks. “I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember, while we may disagree, we are not enemies. We are neighbors, we’re friends, co-workers, citizens, and most importantly, we are fellow Americans. We must stand together.”
Biden added that the shooting “calls on all of us to take a step back” and expressed his “gratefulness” that Trump was “not seriously injured.” He noted that he and First Lady Jill Biden were keeping Trump in their prayers. Biden mentioned that he had spoken to Trump the previous night and that Trump was “doing well.”
While offering his sympathies and prayers for the victims, Biden said that the investigation was “ongoing” and that the shooter’s motive, viewpoints, and affiliations were still unknown.
Biden lamented that “a former president was shot” and “an American citizen killed while simply exercising his freedom to support the candidate of his choosing.”
“We cannot, we must not go down this road in America, we’ve traveled to before throughout our history. Violence has never been the answer, whether it’s with members of Congress of both parties being targeted and shot or a violent mob attacking the Capitol on January 6 or a brutal attack on the spouse of former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, or intimidation on election officials, or the kidnapping plot against a sitting governor, or an attempted assassination on Donald Trump. There’s no place in America for this kind of violence, for any violence ever, period, no exceptions. We cannot allow this violence to be normalized,” Biden said.
The FBI has officially determined that the gun incident targeting former President Donald Trump shortly after his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, began on Saturday afternoon was an “assassination attempt,” though the motive remains unknown.
Although the motive has not been identified, the FBI has declared it an “assassination attempt.” According to Axios, the Pennsylvania State Police announced during a press conference that one shooter has been “tentatively identified.”
Meanwhile, Anthony Guglielmi, the U.S. Secret Service’s chief of communications, released a statement on Saturday night.
“During former President Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on the evening of July 13th at approximately 6:15 p.m., a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue,” he said. “US Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. US Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and the former president is safe and being evaluated. One spectator was killed, two spectators were critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation, and the Secret Service has formally notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
According to Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, two of Trump’s top advisors, the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee begins on Monday, and Trump plans to attend.
