Trump Makes Bittersweet Announcement After Winning Golf Club Championship

President Donald Trump delivered a bittersweet message this week, hinting that his time on the golf course may be winding down.
After securing victory in the annual tournament at his Palm Beach County club, Trump remarked that it was "probably my last," having played on the very same course where he narrowly survived an assassination attempt last August.
“I just won the Golf Club Championship, probably my last, at Trump International Golf Club, in Palm Beach County, Florida. Such a great honor! The Awards dinner is tonight, at the Club. I want to thank the wonderful Golf Staff, and all of the many fantastic golfers, that participated in the event. Such fun!” Trump wrote in a social media post, as reported by the Daily Caller.
Although Trump International is just one of 18 golf courses owned by the Trump Organization globally, it is widely considered the premier location, often serving as an extension of the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Since his inauguration, Trump has frequently spent weekends at the property, signing executive orders and making impromptu press appearances.
Ahead of the golf tournament, the White House released images of President Trump observing American missile strikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen while dressed in golf attire.
Golf has long been a defining part of Trump’s public persona, giving supporters one more opportunity to see him engaging in a beloved pastime.
Just three months into his second term, Trump has achieved his highest approval rating as president, with more Americans feeling the country is on the right path than at any time since 2004, according to a recent NBC News poll.
However, Trump still faces challenges, as he has yet to secure the support of a majority of Americans.
According to the poll, 54% of respondents disapprove of his handling of the economy, marking the first time he has lost majority support on this issue in NBC’s surveys.
“Even so, the survey found that voters generally feel Trump is bringing ‘the right kind of change’ on the key issues — even tariffs,” the New York Post reported, referencing the NBC News findings. “More Americans support his changes to trade policy (41%) than oppose them (38%), according to NBC.”
The NBC poll also suggests that Trump is receiving some leeway regarding inflation. While 40% believe his policies are having a positive effect, 30% see a negative impact, and 28% feel his policies make no difference, according to The Post.
Trump’s status as a divisive political figure remains evident. His approval rating among Republicans stands at a robust 90%, while among Democrats, it is only 4%. NBC notes this represents the widest approval gap between a president’s party and the opposition in the past 80 years.
Overall, the survey found that 47% of voters approve of Trump’s performance, while 51% disapprove, the highest rating recorded in the poll’s history. He had previously reached 47% approval in early 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic and again in October 2018.
NBC’s findings align with other major polls, with RealClearPolitics’ latest aggregate showing Trump averaging a 48.2% approval rating, as noted by The Post.
Compared to his first term, Trump’s approval is now notably higher than it was at the same stage (44%), according to RCP. However, it remains lower than where former President Joe Biden stood at the same point in his presidency (53%).
In a promising sign for Trump, NBC News also found that 44% of registered voters believe the country is on the right track—the highest percentage in 20 years—while 54% still feel it is heading in the wrong direction.
While public sentiment remains largely pessimistic, this is the most optimistic outlook recorded since President George W. Bush’s administration two decades ago.
This marks a significant shift from the previous administration’s numbers.
In September of last year, only 28% of NBC News poll respondents felt the country was on the right track, while 65% believed it was on the wrong path.
