Trump Praises Elon Musk, Tells Him To ‘Get More Aggressive’

Just a month into his presidency, President Donald Trump is ramping up his efforts, escalating actions that are sure to provoke progressives in Washington.

On Saturday, Trump took to social media to commend billionaire Elon Musk for his role in exposing excessive government spending. Musk has already positioned himself as the top adversary of the Democratic Party.

Following his praise, Trump urged Musk to push even harder.

“ELON IS DOING A GREAT JOB, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM GET MORE AGGRESSIVE,” Trump declared on Truth Social, using his signature all-caps style. “REMEMBER, WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO SAVE, BUT ULTIMATELY, TO MAKE GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. MAGA!”

For liberals, that was troubling enough, but Musk’s response only added to their frustration.

“Will do, Mr. President!” Musk posted on X.

That’s the last thing progressives wanted to hear.

Trump has been systematically dismantling the progressive agenda, targeting policies on energy, foreign affairs, and illegal immigration. Musk has played a crucial role in identifying and eliminating government inefficiencies.

A public critique by Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of the U.S. Agency for International Development and its questionable overseas expenditures stirred significant controversy. His efforts have also disrupted traditionally left-leaning institutions, such as the federal Department of Education.

Now, Musk is scrutinizing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, looking for what he has labeled the “motherlode” of “big money fraud.”

Progressives are outraged and uneasy, and Trump’s latest call for Musk to take even stronger action only intensifies their concerns.

Following a legal victory on Tuesday, Musk and his DOGE team have secured access to crucial financial records from multiple federal agencies. Additionally, a DOGE member is on track to receive access to data from the Internal Revenue Service.

“The I.R.S. is preparing to give Gavin Kliger, a young software engineer working with [DOGE], access to sensitive taxpayer information as a senior adviser to the I.R.S.’s acting commissioner. The I.R.S. is still working out the terms of his assignment,” The New York Times reported.

Critics argue that this unprecedented level of oversight by Musk’s team raises serious concerns. Former Treasury Department official Lily Batchelder pointed out on X that she couldn’t recall a political appointee ever having such access to the IRS database.

The primary fear is that this access could be exploited to target political opponents or leak private citizen data. Batchelder warned that such a move could breach federal laws designed to prevent executive branch interference in taxpayer audits. Meanwhile, Democratic Senators Ron Wyden and Elizabeth Warren have demanded further clarification regarding the extent of Musk’s access, The Times reported.

While Democrats and mainstream media outlets continue to suggest—without concrete proof—that Musk and his team might misuse “sensitive taxpayer information,” The Times highlighted that a similar leak already occurred in 2021, when an IRS official disclosed Musk’s 2014-2018 tax returns, along with those of other wealthy individuals targeted by the left, to ProPublica.

President Donald Trump, who appointed Musk to this role, remains unwavering in his support for the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s mission.

“Waste, fraud and abuse have been deeply entrenched in our broken system for far too long,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields stated. “It takes direct access to the system to identify and fix it.”

Meanwhile, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected an attempt by 14 Democratic state attorneys general to impose sweeping restrictions on Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Led by New Mexico, the coalition contends that Musk’s broad authority within DOGE is unconstitutional since he was not confirmed by the Senate. They sought to prevent DOGE from accessing seven federal agencies, The Hill reported.

Chutkan denied the request, ruling that the plaintiffs had failed to present sufficient evidence of immediate and irreparable harm.

“Plaintiffs legitimately call into question what appears to be the unchecked authority of an unelected individual and an entity that was not created by Congress and over which it has no oversight,” Chutkan wrote in her ruling.

“In these circumstances, it must be indisputable that this court acts within the bounds of its authority,” she continued. “Accordingly, it cannot issue a TRO [temporary restraining order], especially one as wide-ranging as Plaintiffs request, without clear evidence of imminent, irreparable harm to these Plaintiffs. The current record does not meet that standard.”

In a footnote, the judge suggested that the Justice Department may have exaggerated in its filings regarding the scope of DOGE’s influence on personnel matters. “Defense counsel is reminded of their duty to make truthful representations to the court,” Chutkan noted.

Since Trump took office, Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has moved quickly to embed personnel within federal agencies, aiming to cut trillions in government spending. This aggressive initiative has already triggered multiple legal battles.

With Chutkan, an Obama appointee, now overseeing this dispute, she finds herself at the center of yet another high-profile case involving Trump. Previously, she presided over the now-dismissed Jan. 6 criminal case against the former president.
