Trump Reveals Second Term Plans, Including Changes to 25th Amendment
At a rally held in Wisconsin last week, former President Donald Trump laid out his policy agenda for a potential second term. Among the highlights were his proposals to dismantle the federal Department of Education and alter the 25th Amendment, focusing specifically on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Speaking to supporters in Mosinee, Wisconsin, Trump shared his vision for the future. The Washington Times noted that, based on national polling averages, the former president currently trails Harris in the state, although other polls suggest he holds a lead.
Trump and his Republican allies have accused the Biden-Harris administration of keeping the president’s condition hidden before he withdrew from the race following a difficult debate performance in June. This accusation underpins Trump's justification for proposing a change to the amendment.
“I will support modifying the 25th Amendment to make clear that if a vice president lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the incapacity of the president of the United States, if you do that with a cover-up of the president of the United States, it’s grounds for impeachment immediately and removal from office, because that’s what they did,” Trump said as part of his detailed nine-point plan.
Continuing his criticism of the current administration, Trump promised to introduce reforms aimed at reducing foreign influence, bribery, and corruption—issues that are central to the ongoing impeachment inquiry by House Republicans.
In addition, Trump reiterated a previous commitment to abolish the Department of Education, an agency long targeted by Republicans since the Reagan era. He told the crowd, “We will ultimately eliminate the Federal Department of Education and send education back to Wisconsin and back to the states.” Trump further emphasized that he would “stop abuse of your taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America’s youth with all sorts of things that you don’t want to have.”
The former president also vowed to cut ten regulations for every new one enacted. He also revealed a proposal, inspired by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, to create a “Government Efficiency Commission” that would audit the federal government.
Speculation has emerged regarding a potential Cabinet role for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently ended his presidential campaign and endorsed Trump. While no specific role has been identified, Trump hinted that Kennedy would play a key role in a team of experts tasked with investigating the rise in chronic health issues and childhood diseases.
“Bobby’s going to be very much involved in that, we’re going to get him involved, because … that’s what he likes, that’s what he’s great at,” Trump said, according to the Times.
Trump also vowed to end the weaponization of government, protect free speech, and “expel warmongers” from the country.
Meanwhile, a former staffer for Kennedy, who had briefly run as an Independent, has launched a pro-Trump political action committee (PAC) called “Make America Healthy Again.”
“Three great causes drove me to enter this race in the first place,” RFK Jr. said last month as he endorsed Trump. “And these are the principle causes that persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent, and now to throw my support to President Trump.”
“President Trump has shown that he can stand up to the corporate interests that have poisoned our environment and compromised our health,” he said during a joint rally with Trump in Arizona. “He is the leader we need to take on the establishment and put America back on the path to health and freedom.”
RFK Jr. further noted, “Trump is the only candidate who can break the stranglehold that corporate elites have on our government. Together, we can restore the health and freedom of the American people.”
Jeff Hutt, the spokesman for the new PAC, released a statement explaining the group’s mission.
“Our team, made up of former senior Kennedy campaign officials, is uniquely positioned to ensure that RFK Jr.’s supporters understand that his vision for a healthier, freer America will be best realized through electing President Trump,” he stated. “We’re ready to bring this movement to every corner of the country.”
