Trump Says He Wanted To Appoint Ivanka To Be ‘UN Secretary’

Former President Donald Trump has revealed that he considered appointing his daughter, Ivanka Trump, as the "United Nations secretary" during his time in office.

Trump shared this insight during an event held by the conservative group Moms for Liberty in Washington, D.C., last week.

Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice asked Trump, “I’d love to know why you choose and continue to choose to work with your children in business and politics. And do you have any advice for people about working with your kids?”

The former president responded, “Well, I’ve always liked it. I don’t know that I’ll be doing very much of it politically because I think it’s been unfair to them. Like, Ivanka was great. She could’ve done anything. Great student. Beautiful girl. Beautiful everything. She’s a perfect person. Worked hard.”

Trump highlighted that Ivanka, who served as an adviser alongside her husband, Jared Kushner, during his administration, had a successful fashion line before joining the White House.

“But she gave it up because she wanted to go,” Trump explained. “And she didn’t want something like the United Nations secretary. I wanted her to do that. I said, you would be a great ambassador to the United Nations, United Nations secretary. There’d be nobody to compete with her.”

Ivanka has stated that she does not intend to rejoin her father’s administration if he were to win another term. She has also been distancing herself from politics and exploring other pursuits, including learning to fly a helicopter.

In July 2023, Ivanka shared a short video on Instagram, showing her piloting a helicopter over a body of water while Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ song “Learnin’ to Fly” played in the background.

The UK’s Express speculated that she was flying off the coast of Florida, where she and Jared Kushner currently reside.

The British tabloid also noted that her 'pilot uniform' for the day was a Dolce and Gabbana Majolica-floral dress.

In another Instagram post, Ivanka is seen wearing a one-piece swimsuit and holding a surfboard with the caption: “Soaking up the summer solstice.”

A recent report from People magazine highlighted Ivanka's shift toward a more private life.

“Ivanka is spending precious time with her husband and her children, doing what she loves most, being a mother,” an unnamed source reportedly told the magazine. “She feels there is no better way to honor her late mother than to nurture and love on her own children.”

Ivanka's mother, Ivana Trump, passed away on July 14, 2022.

“While it has only been a year since Ivana passed, her role as both a remarkable mother and grandmother has left an impact on their lives and will forever be remembered,” the source added.

Following her father's indictment by a Manhattan grand jury last year, Ivanka also expressed her feelings.

As reported by Business Insider, Ivanka took to Instagram Stories to share a brief statement, saying she felt "pained" for both her father and the country.

“I love my father and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both,” the statement read. “I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern.”
