Trump Takes Lead Over Harris With Key Voting Bloc in New Poll
Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign may have anticipated that recent remarks about Puerto Rico would sway Puerto Rican voters away from former President Donald Trump. However, the data suggests otherwise.
A new survey by Cygnal Polling and Analytics, conducted after Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden—where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage”—indicates that the former president is leading among Puerto Rican voters, surpassing Harris.
The poll, conducted from October 26-28, reveals Trump is ahead by 10 points among all Latino voters.
In 2020, Latino voters favored President Joe Biden by 65 percent, so this swing could represent a major shift in Trump’s favor.
In Florida, where Cuban-Americans are traditionally strong Republican supporters, Trump leads by 28 points. Notably, he now has a slim lead over Harris with Puerto Rican voters, edging ahead by two points.
“Trump lost Puerto Ricans in Florida 66-34 in 2020. PA results were similar,” Red Eagle Politics posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The most recent Cygnal poll, conducted mainly after the Madison Square Garden rally, shows Donald Trump winning Florida Puerto Ricans by two points. This is disastrous for Democrats.”
One of the most accurate pollsters from the 2020 election cycle indicates that Trump’s efforts on the campaign trail are proving effective.
Following an initial “honeymoon” period for his Democratic opponent, during which she gained a lead in the polls after President Biden withdrew and endorsed her, Harris now trails the 45th president in six out of seven crucial swing states, according to AtlasIntel.
“While the electorate may have shifted since the 2020 election—and each U.S. election is unique—the data suggests President Donald J. Trump holds leads in all but one of the seven states, potentially leading to a substantial Electoral College win,” reported the National Pulse, referencing the poll results.
The data show Trump leading Harris in Arizona by 4.2 points, North Carolina by 3.7 points, and Nevada by 3.6 points.
In the remaining battlegrounds, Trump holds a narrower lead, with a 2.3-point advantage in Georgia.
In Pennsylvania and Michigan, he has a slight edge over Harris, leading by 1.5 and 0.6 points, respectively.
In Wisconsin, however, Harris holds a marginal lead, trailing Trump by just 0.2 points.
While AtlasIntel data indicates Trump is gaining momentum, the tight margins remain concerning for Republicans. Except in Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina, the leads fall within the margin of error.
Recent polls suggest the race is shifting in Trump’s favor, although he has yet to secure a substantial lead over Harris, as noted by the National Pulse.
It’s still uncertain how recent polling accounts for President Joe Biden’s comments at a Harris campaign event, where he described tens of millions of Trump supporters as “garbage.”
Further, during a campaign event on Thursday, Harris’s supporter Mark Cuban sparked controversy by suggesting that women who support Trump lack intelligence and strength.
CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten highlighted several factors during a network segment, noting that Trump is positioned favorably against Harris.
Currently, Trump leads narrowly in six of the top seven battleground states, according to RealClearPolitics averages, signaling a closely contested race.
