Tucker Carlson Shares Heartbreaking News

Tucker Carlson has shared with his audience that his family has experienced a profound loss this week. He has asked for privacy during this time and assured his supporters that he will return to his widely followed show as soon as he is ready.

Richard Warner Carlson, Tucker Carlson’s father, passed away on Monday at the age of 84. Carlson, who is 55, wrote a heartfelt obituary reflecting on his father’s life. For the past six weeks, Richard had been recovering at his home in Boca Raton, Florida, following a prolonged battle with illness.

“He refused all painkillers to the end and left this world with dignity and clarity, holding the hands of his children with his dogs at his feet,” Carlson shared on X.

Richard’s passing comes just sixteen months after the loss of his wife, Patricia Carlson, as noted by the former Fox News host.

“He mourned her every day,” the obituary states.

Carlson provided an in-depth look into his father’s extraordinary life, noting that by the age of 17, Richard had already been jailed for grand theft auto and expelled from high school twice before ultimately joining the U.S. Marine Corps with aspirations of serving in the military. His career path took him from working as a marine cargo merchant to becoming an investigative journalist. He only began stepping away from his work after suffering serious injuries during the 1965 Watts riots in Los Angeles.

Carlson fondly remembered how his father dedicated himself to raising his sons, often taking them along on reporting assignments. “He threw himself into raising his boys,” he said, reflecting on childhood memories. At home, their father made sure dinner conversations were rich with discussions on topics such as the French Revolution, Bolshevik Russia, PG Wodehouse, American Indian history, and most importantly, the “unchangeable and eternal character of humanity.”

“He was a free thinker and a compulsive book reader, including at red lights. He left a library of thousands of books, most dog-eared and filled with marginalia. His reading and life experiences convinced him that God is real. He had an outlaw spirit tempered by decency.”

Carlson credited his father as the one who inspired him to pursue journalism. Since his controversial departure from Fox News, Carlson’s career has only continued to flourish.

“Richard W. Carlson is survived by his sons, Tucker and Buckley, his beloved daughter-in-law Susie, and five grandchildren. He was the toughest human being anyone in his family ever knew, and also the kindest and most loyal. RIP,” the obituary concludes.

The Carlson family has long been deeply rooted in conservative values. Tucker’s brother, Buckley, previously worked for the Republican Party in roles such as communications manager and political strategist before retiring. According to Newsweek, Buckley’s son, also named Buckley, joined Vice President J.D. Vance’s press team at the White House in January.

Tucker, who has four children, is watching his family grow. His rising-star son, Buckley, tied the knot with Kelsey Kilgore in May 2023, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their family’s legacy.
