Vivek Rewrites 1500-Page, Pork-Filled Budget Bill Using Just 75 Words Dems and RINOs Will Despise
On Wednesday, users of the social media platform X witnessed an extraordinary moment in American political history.
Spearheaded by X owner Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the newly appointed co-director of the incoming “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), Americans mounted a massive campaign that successfully derailed a sprawling federal spending bill exceeding 1,500 pages. This action struck a blow against big-government practices and prevented lawmakers from pushing through another excessive, pork-laden omnibus.
Ramaswamy, tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to lead efforts to streamline government operations, provided an example of what efficient legislation could look like.
“Yes, it is possible to enact a simple 1-page Continuing Resolution, instead of 1,500+ page omnibus pork-fest. Here it is,” Ramaswamy posted on X, alongside a concise, 75-word resolution.
In his example, he modified a prior appropriations bill by extending its termination date to March 14, 2025, calling it “a clean CR.”
“I still don’t love it because it permits the historical spending excesses to continue, but at bare minimum, we shouldn’t be stacking even more waste on top,” he clarified in a follow-up tweet.
The context of Ramaswamy’s efforts is particularly striking.
On Tuesday, he emphasized the need for diligence among elected officials, tweeting, “Currently reading the 1,547-page bill to fund the government through mid-March. Expecting every U.S. Congressman & Senator to do the same.”
By Wednesday morning, after carefully reviewing the bill, he shared his verdict: “Full of excessive spending, special interest giveaways & pork barrel politics.”
He urged lawmakers to “VOTE NO” and posted a detailed breakdown of the bill’s issues.
Ramaswamy’s critique quickly gained traction, catching the attention of Musk.
“The more I learn, the more obvious it becomes that this spending bill is a crime,” Musk wrote, sharing Ramaswamy’s analysis.
Throughout the day, Musk amplified opposition to the bill, joining others in urging Congress to reject it.
The campaign soon reached Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and other lawmakers. Momentum built further when reports surfaced that President-elect Donald Trump also opposed the legislation.
“Big news from @FoxNews @LawrenceBJones3: President Trump says he’s ‘totally against’ the monstrous omnibus CR bill. @elonmusk also opposes it and signaled that any Republican voting for it should lose their seat. X raising the alarm might really kill this bill,” one X user noted.
Finally, Vice President-elect JD Vance issued a joint statement with Trump condemning the bill.
This remarkable sequence of events stemmed from Ramaswamy’s meticulous examination of the spending proposal, which he and many Americans viewed as a glaring example of fiscal mismanagement.
Beyond the immediate victory, Ramaswamy’s concise model for a Continuing Resolution stands as a testament to the power of efficiency in governance.
If half of DOGE can reduce a 1,500-page bill to just 75 words, imagine the transformative impact the entire department could have on federal bureaucracy.
