VP Harris Faces Impeachment After House Republican Files Articles

A Republican in the House has filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris following President Joe Biden’s recent decision to end his reelection campaign and support her as the Democratic nominee for the upcoming November election.

POLITICO’s Olivia Beavers shared screenshots of the resolution introduced by Rep. Anthony Ogles (R-Tenn.) on the X platform. The resolution accuses Harris of committing “high crimes and misdemeanors” due to her management of the migrant crisis as the “border czar” and for allegedly misleading the public about Biden’s physical and cognitive health.

“Time and again, Kamala Harris has refused to uphold her oath to the U.S. Constitution, and she must be impeached,” Ogles stated to The Daily Caller. He criticized her role as Border Czar, saying her "breathtaking incompetence" has allowed a surge of drugs, rape, and murder in American streets.

Ogles also claimed she “knowingly breached the public’s trust by failing to invoke the 25th Amendment after it became clear that Joe Biden was mentally and physically unfit to serve as president,” asserting that “immediate action must be taken.”

Running in the Republican primary in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District on August 1, Ogles, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, had previously introduced articles of impeachment against both Biden and Harris last year.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the third-ranking House Republican, introduced a resolution condemning Harris for her failure to manage the migrant crisis as the Biden administration’s “border czar.”

The resolution criticizes “the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border.” It emphasizes that “the American people deserve elected officials who understand the gravity of the crisis at the border and who will execute the policies to fix the border crisis.” The document warns that continuing the Biden-Harris border policies would be “disastrous for both the United States and the American people.”

In March 2021, two months after Biden and Harris assumed office, Biden assigned her to address the growing illegal immigration and border security issues. Republicans attribute this crisis to Biden’s reversal of Trump’s policies on his first day in office. Harris stated at the time that her goal was to “address the root causes…that cause people to make the trek.”

Since then, illegal migrant crossings have reached record highs, turning illegal immigrant crime and city overcrowding into a major issue for the 2024 campaign, benefiting Trump.

Trump 2024 national press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested that First Lady Jill Biden should be held accountable for “elder abuse” towards her husband, arguing that Biden’s noticeable cognitive decline has raised concerns about his ability to serve as president.

“The majority of the American public agree with that. Jill Biden doesn’t because, I guess, she doesn’t want to be a loving wife and go take care of her husband in Delaware, which is what she should be doing,” Leavitt said.

Leavitt called for the media to ask tough questions of Jill Biden and the Biden family regarding the president’s health. She asserted that Jill Biden, knowing her husband best, continues to deceive the American public, which she described as shameful and abusive.

Leavitt also stated that the Democratic Party has been “exposed” for falsely asserting that Joe Biden is mentally fit to serve another term as president.
