Watch: Kamala's Husband Shifts Blame Away from Biden, Claiming She’s Not Responsible for His Failures in a Surprising Statement

Many are wondering if underlying tensions within the Democratic Party will eventually surface, sparking open conflict.

If leading Democrats continue to undermine President Joe Biden, it might not be long before things reach a boiling point.

In an interview with Michael Strahan on ABC's "Good Morning America," Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, made a weak attempt to distance her from Biden’s troubled presidency.

Strahan, the former NFL star-turned-TV host, didn’t exactly push hard for answers.

The interview occurred at a diner in Emhoff’s hometown, Matawan, New Jersey.

Strangely, when asked by Strahan how Harris would differ from Biden as president, Emhoff initially focused on maintaining consistency.

On economic issues, for example, Emhoff assured that Harris would “continue and expand” key Biden initiatives like infrastructure.

He then followed up with broad statements about housing and small businesses.

While Strahan did press with a follow-up question, it was worded in a way that seemed more intent on portraying Harris favorably.

“So, for those who may criticize [Harris] and say ‘Well, she hasn’t done that [in] her three-and-a-half years in office as vice president.’ Do you think that’s unfair?” the former football star asked.

“Yeah, she’s the vice president, not the president,” Emhoff responded. “The vice president is there as part of the administration, not leading the administration. So, as president, she’s gonna be able to put forth her policies and plans and effectuate those.”

In essence, Emhoff argued that while Harris will follow Biden’s policies, she isn’t to blame for his failures—classic political double-talk.

Rather than challenging this further, Strahan moved on to a trivial question about “masculinity,” avoiding any direct confrontation regarding Emhoff’s indirect critique of Biden.

For those interested, the full interview can be seen below, with the relevant segment starting around the 4:00 mark.

However, as a matter of fact, it’s impossible for Emhoff to separate Harris from Biden’s record.

For example, Harris has boasted about being “the last one in the room” during discussions that led to the disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

Furthermore, Biden appointed Harris as the “border czar,” a position where she has been largely ineffective.

At a deeper level, the issue of underlying resentment lingers.

During last week’s Republican debate, former President Donald Trump made a striking comment about how much Biden “hates” Harris.

And — despite his many faults — one could understand why Biden might feel that way.

An internal party coup, driven by Democratic elites, forced Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race, paving the way for Harris’s rise as the top contender.

It’s been reported that this coup left Biden feeling betrayed, even toward figures like former President Barack Obama.

Adding to the tension, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently dismissed the notion that Harris would distance herself from Biden. The president himself had a similar reaction.

But the rumors grew stronger last week when, a day after the debate, Biden was seen wearing a red "Trump" hat in Pennsylvania while addressing firefighters.

While Biden likely meant it as a joke, it came off as one of his rare moments of levity.

Nevertheless, the strain between Harris and Biden, even in seemingly harmless interviews like this one, is becoming a subplot of the 2024 election.

And this narrative may have a few more twists before the final chapter is written.
