White House Document Leaks - Inside Official's Response Will Send a Shiver Down the Spine of Anyone Supporting Big Government

It looks like significant federal government downsizing is on the horizon.

On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that it had acquired an internal White House document outlining the Trump administration’s proposals for reducing the size of multiple federal agencies.

According to the Post, the document—which remains in the preliminary stages—covered 22 agencies, indicating that the suggested cuts had yet to be finalized.

Among the proposed reductions were plans to cut the Department of Housing and Urban Development by 50 percent, reduce the Department of the Interior by a quarter, and eliminate nearly a third of all employees at the Internal Revenue Service.

Additionally, the document included plans to reduce the Department of Justice by 8 percent, the National Science Foundation by 28 percent, the Commerce Department by 30 percent, and the Small Business Administration by 43 percent.

Further cuts involved decreasing the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget by 10 percent and slashing the Treasury Department’s workforce by 30 percent.

The Post noted that these reductions factored in employees who accepted a deferred resignation offer, those dismissed due to probationary status, and others who intended to leave voluntarily.

“The document said firings would save the Education Department $6.1 billion, the Justice Department $1.9 billion, and HUD more than $1.2 million through fiscal 2026 and $800 million annually after three years,” the Post reported.

Harrison Fields, the White House principal deputy press secretary, emphasized that these figures do not represent final decisions, nor do they provide an “accurate” depiction of the actual cuts being considered.

“It’s no secret the Trump administration is dedicated to downsizing the federal bureaucracy and cutting waste, fraud, and abuse. This document is a pre-deliberative draft and does not accurately reflect final reduction in force plans,” Fields stated.

The Post also claimed to have reviewed a draft document suggesting a reduction of 80,000 employees at Veterans Affairs.

If these proposals—last updated as recently as Tuesday, according to the Post—align closely with what the Trump administration intends to implement, the response from the left is likely to be intense.

The Department of Government Efficiency, under chair Elon Musk, has been actively working to curb waste, fraud, and abuse. This effort has triggered outrage, leading to a series of attacks against Tesla owners, in what appears to be a misguided attempt to target Musk.

Tesla owners have reported incidents of vandalism, including keying and other forms of damage. Those responsible have been arrested and charged with felony vandalism.

Some individuals have even resorted to firebombing Teslas—all because Musk and DOGE are focused on reducing unnecessary spending.

That being said, the backlash from the left does not change the reality: reducing an excessively large government is long overdue.
